Pride in What We Do? Is it Facism? I'm Curious To Hear your Thoughts

Ok I started thinking about this when yaqi was on E! on Stern.

Are any of us ashamed to be ticklers/ticklees? I'm going on a limb and assuming a few are, but I'm guessing those people aren't part of the net community, especially this one, and if there are some ashamed here, I'm assuming its a very small minority.

Ok, so let's go with pride, I assume a LOT of us are glad to be who we are, and that's probably a good thing, correct?

Watching Yaqi made me think os something, what if tickling went mainstream? Would there be a bunch of "tickling posers"? Would anyone be annoyed if tickling was all around the clock on tv and radio?

Now don't get me wrong, there are a lot of positive aspects to this, but I have a feeling some people would do it just to do it, not because they're into it, and I don't know about the majority of you, but the thought of me slowly wiggling my fingers across a gal's soft tummy when she isn't totally into it is kind of alarming, it makes me feel kinda dirty. That's another reason why I think any nonconsenual tickling is bad.

So my question is, am I the only one who feels this way? I'm assuming I am, I'll be kinda surprised if anyone aggrees with me. Responses will be likely to contain "if I can get more tickling partners Im all for it" and to a certain extent I can deal with that,

I dunno? Am I a ticklen fetish facist? Or am I thinking into this WAAAY too much.

Oh yeah, and I don't ever think tickling will ever get to that point, but for conversation's sake...

The way I see it is that if I can be accepted by the love of my life and a few choice friends..for the way I am (not just in tickling matters) then i really do not care what the "mainstream" thinks. I do not need to be accepted by a majority...just by those that I really care about.

After attending the Albany gathering (SBG) I realized that there are a lot of people out there (and in here) who really accept people no matter what. No judgements during the whole time there. It was like being home after being away a long time.🙂

I couldn't care more about a cricket's left butt cheek whether or not tickling is accepted or advertised, or pasted on every infomercial as the next lover's intimacy technique. Fact of the matter....if ya got the bug in ya....it's not going anywhere.

You might get to tickle more folks if it's more mainstream, but eh....if you get out of your tickle closet, that percentage hikes up pretty steadily anyway.It's mainstream in my life....when I choose it to be. I like to tell folks in my own way, just as I might tell them that I paint or like bondage. *shrug*

I don't think it really matters unless you're out to make a buck off of it. That's my $.02...and I didn't even get my pennies 😛

I agree with you BellyTicklerX.

Tickling is one of those things.... its just so hard to explain to people who are not truly into it. I almost think that if it did take mainstream by a storm, it would be a fleeting fantasy, or a fad.

All the friends I have told have been accepting and even fasinated by it all. One is even begging to attend a gathering with me just to see what it is like.

The fact of the matter is, I am not ashamed that I love tickling. I don't freak out when someone tickles me in public, I actually love it.
Stern voice "Hey you stop that! No PDT" (public displays of tickling) LOL

But there are people in my life that I will never share this with. And that includes my little sister, who I suspect is a Ticklephile as well. (She is NOT!)

Call it fear? Maybe in just a few cases. But I secretly enjoy having this hidden wild side that my family and my friends don't quite know about. And I love it when they ask me... So are you going to California again. What do you do there? LOL

Plus my job will keep me in the tickle closet for years and years to come! 🙁 But oh well... such is LIFE 😉

Personally, I'd love for tickling to become mainstream. I think it'd be great if it became accepted as a norm. Heck, even if it was a passing fad, that'd be good too. Besides, I don't think tickling would ever become so mainstream that you'd get tired of seeing it. And while I certainly agree with BellyTicklerX's view on non-consenual tickling, I think tickling going mainstream (to whatever degree) would open up people's minds and you'd have gals who weren't necessarily into it, willing to try it just to see what all the fuss was about. 🙂
One other thing I'd to comment on while I'm at it is this:
I've noticed more and more from what I've read on various area of this board and from real life experiences is that women in general don't seem to mind being tickled so much as it is WHO is doing the tickling. Ladies, am I wrong?

X, I couldn't agree with you more.

And when you really think about it...if you redefine "mainstream" to fit within the context of our sub-culture, we're pretty much as mainstream as it gets. How many people with a tickling fetish and a computer don't know about the TMF? Magic Touch, MTJ and TC are pretty much the Big Three when it comes to covering the gamut in tickling entertainment. Pretty mainstream, actually...within the community. And that's all we really need to concern ourselves with, isn't it?

I buy Rush albums because they don't play Rush on the radio a lot. So, only the real Rush fans are going to buy the CD. I don't buy Nickleback's albums because I do hear them on the radio several times a day. Something like that.

And when it comes to real-life tickling, either with a partner or at a gathering, that's the end of the line for the concept of "mainstream"...Reality.

That's the one thing that confuses me about all this "mainstream exposure". No matter what happens, the only way you will know about will be to purchase someone's video record of the event. Isn't that just another form of tickling video? To alot of people, video isn't a big part of their fetish.

All in all, I'm pretty happy where this whole thing is at. Things evolve slowly, and we've come pretty far in the last 7 or 8 years.

As a friend of mine would say...Not too shabby.😎

While I'm not well equipped to speak on the subject of this "reality" thing you mention, I once again find myself in agreement with the earlier posts on this subject. Everyone seems to have covered some point that would have occurred to me clearly and intelligently.

I've concluded that people around here are too damn smart. I need to find some stupid people to associate with to make me feel better about myself.

P.S. - Dave, I actually hear Rush on the radio quite regularly, but maybe that's one local station.

I would love tickling and being tickled whether there were a handful of us or thousands of thousands.
I am who and what I am beacuse that is who and what I am not because I am following a majority. In fact in some aspects, I am somewhat of a Non conformist and would do the opposite of the popular majority.

As far as tickling specifically goes, IF I were the ONLY person on earth who was "INTO" tickling, there would be a whole lotta non consensual tickling being done by me .

I would be kinda screwed as far as BEING tickled goes or go broke paying professional mistresses to do it to me or be one frustrated dude which in turn would make me tickle more.
What a mess it would be .
