primetime's University tickling survey!!

At the risk of getting flamed, I'd say that Prime probably went too far in his course of actions. I don't know if Tron's course of action was the best one to take and may have been going to far as well, but misrepresenting one's self like Prime did is reprehensable. It was not sexual assault, but still a violation of trust and should not have been done in the first place. By the same token, Prime, though he acted out of line, did no serious harm and though I think his actions cannot be condoned, Tron also may have violated a trust of confidence given to him by his fellow TMFers.

I see no one coming out better for this.

Oh, alright....

*Shakes finger at Prime*

There....I have given both parties my opinion....

In all honesty....

No harm done,

BUT....

That may be slightly blurring the lines between reality and fantasy....

Tron,

You're full of it. Long have I seen you post here.
At first I was like.. I can't believe he would do that.

Then I thought better. There was another thread I could have used you on and you were off lurking but you decide to come on this one.
You're irratic nowadays, I never know when you're going to post!

Anyway, Primetime... you haven't done anything illegal and you haven't done anything a guy hasn't done when hitting on a gal. I forgot who mentioned that fact earlier in the thread.

People need to lighten up sometimes. You can easily say you're doing a survey with Blah Blah University students instead of "for the college".

Personally, I'd like a new updated survey, there are some old ones running around but it's kinda cool to get a new one.
Love to hear about the next batch. I have no problem having you be the offical survey guy. I think Leno has someone do that for his show, you do one for ours. 🙂

oy. where to begin.

Prime, I agree with Wraith. I am not a laywer, but I *have* seen one too many episodes of Law & Order. 😀 (Mariska Hargitay is oh, so, hot!) But regardless, the long and short of it is that you lied to a bunch of girls to get your jollies by talking to them about tickling. That just ain't right. If you don't agree with me, and don't think that what you did was wrong, why didn't you just tell them the truth? Think they would have answered you if you'd said "excuse me miss, I'd like to ask you some questions about tickling because I want to post my findings on a sexual fetish forum."

you think they'd have agreed to participate then? hmm, wonder why.

and there's one way to settle this "you did something illegal!" "did not!" "did too!" bullshit.

I *did* just call UC Irvine. I spoke with the Officer in charge of Crime Prevention and told her I was having a discussion with someone about the illegalities of posing as a poll-taking student when, in fact, you were not, and whether the questions may be of a dubious nature would have any influence on this illegality. She said she'll research the topic a bit and then have a detective call me back.
I'll let you all know how it turns out.

because after all, as long as the community thinks it's okay, it doesn't matter whether a crime has actually been committed, right? 😀

After reading all these posts about this situation. no one has brought up the fact that 'posing' as someone is considered FRAUD!
While, I don't think Primetime didn't do anything horribly wrong, he did, in fact, commit a crime.
Anyone posing as ANYONE else, regardless of their gender or professional background is a FRAUD.
I would NEVER EVER try to convince anyone that I am something that I am not.
If I wanted to try to conduct a survey at a college, I'd probably ask if they would mind taking a survey from someone that is not in college.
If I get a 'YES', then I'd proceed with the survey.
If I get a 'NO', then I'd move on to the next person.
Remember . . . Honesty is the best politics.

Koo, my comments weren't directed at you specifically, but to the majority of the respondees who feel that the proper authorities shouldn't have been alerted despite something potentially problematic being done. If this act was, in fact, something campus police would have cause to be concerned over, then they need to know it's being done. plain and simple.

As I said, I've asked them. If they get back to me, I'll post my findings here. Nobody else's opinion matters because it's not their jurisdiction, so to speak.

so did you post her picture and this story without her consent, or knowledge? if so, then Tron's not to blame here, it's you. if she originally gave you permission, and then got scared of Tron's reaction? well, that's different. I don't know which is the truth.

BUT.

Tron "reacted" as he did because he felt that someone was doing something illegal.* Should we, as a community, be expected to allow admissions of illegal deeds to be posted here without consequences? What if it's only "slightly" illegal? How illegal does it have to be before it's considered serious enough to take action over? Frankly, I'm more disturbed by the reactions of everyone else to Tron's comments than I am to prime's original post.

My opinion on your situation is that Traci didn't understand the ramifications of posting that stuff to the Internet. You shouldn't have used her real name, at the very least. This is the *WORLD WIDE* web. There is no privacy here.

* Yes, I know Tron was probably lying. But you'll notice that people were mocking him *before* he claimed to have called the police. Soon as he said "that's illegal" he got jumped on and told to "lighten up".

Only because he does the same thing in every thread...ALL the time...

I suggest that evryone take a deep breath and take a look at everything they themselves have done over the past year before passing judgement on others....

Christ. It's like Prime conspired to murder these poor, innocent young lasses for his own twisted amusement. At least, that's what I'd think if I'd only read the responses to this thread, and not the origonal thread-starter.

C'mon people, this is back-stabbing of the pettiest order. Did prime lie to get some kicks? Yeah, totaly. He was an under-hand, low-down sneaky bugger who blanketed the truth to get a decent survey. Which he posted here on this forum in his usual, jovial manner.

So we jumped him for it. Go us. Because Prime is *such* a threat to his community, isn't he? I mean, *thank God* Tron had the presence in mind to alert the world and its hamster to the terror that lurked in the college park near you, thank God some of us saw Prime, who we used to consider our freind and a talented writer of fiction, as the Immoral Man that he truly is. With him out of the way, our law enforcers can go back to ignoring the true crimes of this world that are being purpetrated every freakin' day with an easy mind and a tasty doughnut...

Rant over.

Exactly my sentiments on this one A.T.....very well put...

both neutron, and phineas

should be banned from the tmf
they violated a trust of the highest order.
the fact that primetime posted here about his survey shows he had no evil intent. both tron, and phineas went to police officials and made a federal case over nothing! they have brought shame, and unwanted scrutiny to this board, and should be banned!

steve

oh for Christ's sake, steve. grow up.

I didn't report any crimes. I merely called UC Irvine and asked the campus police if what was described *could be considered* a crime. I don't expect you to understand the difference, as you've shown such stellar reading comprehension in the past.

I love how everybody is crowing about "violation of trust" regardless of what the law may or may not say. Could I whine that my trust was violated if I came here tommorow and admitted I'd done something that we all knew was illegal, and someone reported me?

go ahead and ban me. If this forum is going to be a place where people can come for support when they do things that *obviously* cross lines that shouldn't be crossed I want no part of this community.

Come ON

The man did not hurt anyone. He was not trying to hurt anyone.

So he lied to come college girls for some kicks. So what? Several of those girls probably knew her was lying but let him play anyway; we communicate more with our body language than we do our words.

If you're going to condemn Primetime for what he did, then:

. . . if you have ever driven ONE MILE PER HOUR over the speed limit, report yourself to the police immedately.

. . . if you ever lied to your parents about something you broke in the house, return that week's allowance they would have taken from you and don't watch television tonight.

. . . if you ever used your employer's phone or copy machine for personal reasons, ask your boss to fire you.

And check the Lost and Found for your mind.:ranty:

try again phineass

you called campus police (which is enough by it self!) but they are turning it over to the "real" police. or don't you have enough brains to realize that's what they mean when they said a "detective" will be calling you back?!?!

i have grown up, a long time ago. you it seems are still stuck in the tattle-tale stage!

face it, you broke the trust issue, and should get the boot out the door. what you did sucks hind tit. who do you think you are?! no-body is paying you to be a police agent, so mind your own fuckling business!

insults from you haven't affected me for a long time, cause i got your number some time back. you're a jealous looser. get lost!

steve
p.s. all of the above rant applies to tron too.

but they are turning it over to the "real" police. or don't you have enough brains to realize that's what they mean when they said a "detective" will be calling you back?!?!

I know *exactly* what that means, thank you.

so I guess that answers my question as to how seriously they'll take it, huh?

Hey, c'mon....

Seriously, enough is enough....

This is getting off-topic in a hurry.

Everybody back to their corners....

😛

Totally with you on that post of yours Em Es.

And though we share different opinions on this Phineas, it certainly doesn't mean I saw anything wrong with you just asking what the UC Irvine thought on the matter.

Poor Primetime will not do anything anymore cuz of the fear of God thrown on to him. But as Laz said.. back to my dark corner I go..

It's funny to me that I find myself more interested in how tickling is perceived in the sense that it's involved in something that could or could not be legal. The poll?...feh...didn't even read the results. All I care about is whether or not my ticklee laughs. Go figure! LOL

In regard to the stir:
I'd be curious what the girls he questioned would think if they knew the truth.

Would they have easily gone along with it if they knew who he was, and why he was doing what he was doing. I think THAT would be telling! It's not a school survey from a class, but rather I'm a grown man, posing as a peer to get info regarding my KINK. It would creep me, to be honest. I won't apologize for the opinion.

I know that given the level of interest many of us hold about tickling, it's hard to imagine it being innocent. The girls obviously felt safe because they weren't involved like we are, but would it have been so innocent without the cover-up lie? Could it be compared to someone doing pedicures to get a foot-fix? At least it's a job, and it's valid.

I dunno...I suppose if my 18 year old daughter was approached by a grown man who asked her a bunch of questions and ended with any physical contact, I wouldn't be happy about it. I might suggest having him run off campus or watched closely to be sure it didn't go any farther. The speculation comes with the fact that there was deception however innocently it was intended. That's how it works.

In the end, it would have probably been better to stick with the truth.I don't know the legal side. Fraud? Probably. Worthy of a lynching. Nah. A warning? Sure. I don't see it as taking the moral highground as some others have suggested. I just think it's strange to lie about something that most would consider to be rather bland. I would have just gone to a non-tk website and done a poll. The only difference would be that you couldn't touch the person. Was that the point? to be able to touch the person who answered? Not accusing, just wondering.

Jo, someone who thinks there are enough creepy activities that girls on campus have to deal with.

I wonder how we would be responding if the survey was taken, not on a college campus, but at a bar in a college town or perhaps at a beach. Add to this shift a slight change of wording with no mention of "college survey".

How would you react to this scenario?

I walk into one or more college town bar(s) and approach several ladies either individually or in small groups. I introduce myself and tell them that I am taking a survey regarding MIND OVER MATTER but I do not tell them that I am a college student.

If they ask me why I am taking the survey, I tell them because I am trying to get a better understanding of MIND OVER MATTER and differentiate Pain vs Tickling. If they agreed to take the survey, would this, then be a problem.

Side note: I had a friend who had an extraodinarally high pain tolerence and yet he was hyper-ticklish. Go figure.

I can see that....

I, too, have an extraordinarily high tolerance for pain-

12 hours after having a spinal implant-spinal cord stimulator-removed, I was up and about, to the ire of Mimi, who told me to take it easy and rest....

I had 1 week bedrest when it was put in...

They gave me Vicodin, but I refused to take it, as it makes me sick...:sowrong:

10-inch incision on my right side, and taking Tylenol, only if I needed it....

From the beating I used to take wrestling, I developed a very high tolerance for pain...😎

But DAMNIT, if Meems gets to my feet with her knuckles,😱 or gets my jaw or collarbone just right, I'm giggling like a little girl....

You didn't hear that from me, tho....

😛

Running for his life as Meems chases him with a Dawn Power Brush....

I know; a research paper. How about, instead of a "college survey," make it a survey of COLLEGE GIRLS! This private study seeks to understand and map the potential corellation between ticklishness and academia. The question is, can ticklishness be used as a tool to increase grade average among college girls? I can see it now...

"In order to answer this question, we took a survey of 1000 college girls from across the country in an attempt to find a symbiotic relationship between school studying and the brains 'tickle response.' In a separate part of the study, we chose volunteers who were among the most ticklish of the girls surveyed to participate in a "Tickling Study Group." Particpants were tickled with varied degrees of intensity and duration, immediately after they studied for a big test. We wanted to see if the endorphin rush experienced by the girls tickled more intensely and for longer periods would facilitate greater retention of the information studied."

I think that is a valid question, and worthy of further investigation. See ya. (getting clipboard and lab coat) 😀

Now after reading this thread, the only thing we can accuse Prime of is lying. But should he be lynched for it, no. Its cool, Prime, everyone makes mistakes, just learn from this one, and don't repeat it. Just makes you wonder after what Tron and Phineas did whether the next thing we post will be up for criminal prosecution. Yes you two did violate the trust factor here, makes me wonder if you two can ever be trusted again. You both need to be taken out to the back of the shed and *golden rule violation*. My 2 cents. If there is a problem gents, I live in Chicago. I'm not hard to find
