psychological tickling vs physical tickling

This is an area of great interest to me (as you know). But as much as I promote and believe in the psychological aspects of tickling, I think you've set up a "false dichotomy" here. In other words, the psychological part must be fulfilled in the physical and the physical lives and thrives in the light of the psychological. They are two sides of a coin.

If I absolutely had to choose, I would probably vote psychological-- only to balance out the general neglect of that dimension.

I'll have to go with physical. After all......tickling isn't a psychological threat without the knowledge of how it physically feels to be tickled!! So I think physical cames before the psych.

Interesting question: what was the motive of the first tickler to tickle his first ticklee? He couldn't have known about the physical viewpoint, or he would simply not have been the first one...

I think tickling is an inseparable combination of psychological and physiological aspects. The joys of giving or receiving tickling touch both in a very different way. It's like the two sides of the same coin: You can't view the psychology of tickling without the physiological aspect, and vice versa.

The tickler also enjoys the physical touch he/she delivers to the ticklee, hearing her laughter, seeing her squirm. And the ticklee's joy is not merely physical, it's also the kick of feeling exposed and helpless, but free of responsibilities at the same time. And both parts usually enjoy giving good feelings to each other, at least that's how it should be.

So, which was first, the hen or the egg? 🙂

Of' course nothing takes the place of actually touching sensitive female flesh, but I'm tellin ya I just totally dig wriggling my fingers at a girl or giving her a suggestive look that implies she's about to be tickled and watch her shriek and recoil her body in protest. God, I love that so much!

I'm with Kuj, nighttime and Ticklebug. Y'gotta have both. While it IS possible to sneak a tickle, giving no reaction beforehand, I want the beforehand reaction AND the tickling.

If you mean adding some kind of mental play with the physical act (already occurring or about to occur)then that's different.

Psychological tickling? Jeez, the definition REALLY carries the topic. There's that whole wiggling fingers while sayin', "I'm gonna get you," expecting your "victim" 'lee to start giggling long before you lay finger one on 'em. Then there's the dastardly habit some sinister folks have, verbally teasing someone who's already being tickled, which, somehow, seems to make it SO much worse for the poor 'lee.
