Questions about ren fairs

Hi everyone!

I´ve seen some videos and stuff about ren fairs, and would like to ask some questions to anyone who may be able to answer 🙂

Bear in mind I´m portuguese and haven´t seen any actual fair in real life, in spite knowing that sometimes, a few medieval fairs happen around our country.

So here they go:

1- are tickling punishments just a rare thing to see or are they the usual stuff on every fair?

2- How do you get the victims? Is everything arranged or are they arrested for something they´ve done at the fair? And if so, could you tell me what they need to do to be arrested and tickle tortured? 😉

3- Just to finish. I´ve only seen women getting tickled on ren fairs, do you ever get men also? It would be fun to have some...let´s see....maybe some women dressed as they belonged to a religious order, torturing some men. Just an idea lol

By the way? away from the tickling, can anyone tell me the big difference between ren and medieval fairs? Or are they the same?

I’m glad you asked these. they are things I’ve wondered too but never thought to ask. especially #1 and #2.

as for #3… I love that idea! but women were pretty powerless in the medieval and renaissance periods. maybe they could be witches come back for revenge against their accusers? 😉

as for the difference between the medieval and renaissance fairs… having never been to either one, (aren’t I a wealth of information? aren’t you glad I responded to this post? lol) I’m guessing that there’s not much of a difference. historically, the big differences are a couple of centuries, art and hygiene. well, that and the feather breathing dragons carrying poor unsuspecting damsels off to their ticklish doom… I’m pretty sure that only happened in the medieval age. 😉

hummmm guess you´re right about the scennario with the women tickling men....but then again, they could just arrest the men in the stocks and then invite any women passing by into tickling him! This would be a more likely to be scennario giving some f/m tickling 😉

Wich was in fact my point lol I´d love to be arrested in the way I´ve seen in some ren fair clips but I have this thing with m/m tickling....just not for me 🙂 nothing against it but just not for me. I´m sure many understand and share my thoughts...it´s just something about men lol many of us are really stuborn on not letting other men´s touching us in ways that can turn us on 😛

You know here in Portugal, almost all the fairs seem to be medieval, I guess really all of them! This is maybe cause the medieval time is the one were all our legends, great tales of war, conquests and romance come from 🙂

I can assure you there were no reports of dragons here in Portugal! lol But we do have a tale of a dead chicken raising again and singing to prove the inocence of a convicted fellow, this is actually the legend of Barcelos up on the north of the country. But a dead chicken wouldn´t kidnap ladys in distress...lol not what you´d expect from a chicken 😛 the one in the legend was already toasted so he had no feathers to tickle torture somo lady he could kidnap 🙂 the poor chicken!!!!!!

Well, Ive 'been to these things', clean out here in Washington state, and never saw one that even had a set of stocks handy. Frustrates the hell out of me. But from what I've seen on videos, and have read about the subject, the victims are usually willing to try the stocks out. Ive seen photos of women tickling men in these situations, but I've never been lucky enough to find out where they happen. Pout pout, pity me. (hehehehehe)

Well...if things are really like that then I´ll go to the US, find one of these fairs and brybe a bit more the sheriff so he places me in front of the stocks with orders to do all the tickling myself heheheheh 😛

by the way...If I was the sheriff I´d lately ask the lady if she was into giving some money for me to charge her guy on treason and let her have revenge! Justice is a good thing!!!! 🙂

No matter!! Even if no one else provides us some info, you still got to learn de legend of the barcelos chicken 😛 lolol don´t you dare telling you haven´t learned a thing from this thread! I´m sure if you ever come to Portugal and Barcelos you´ll see one of the ceramic chickens they sell there and you´ll end up thinking: "Why the hell is this chicken remembering me of renfairs???" 😛

Well, I've been to several Ren Faires in my time, and I have yet to witness any tickling going on as part of the festivities, other than that which I was doing myself...

One of my favorite games was called "Drench a Wench" (it was "Soak a Bloke" for the ladies), and you paid your $ to man some sort of medieval launching device (there were crude crossbows, miniature catapults, etc...) to fire wet sponges at the ladies assembled in the gallery. Once you hit a damsel, you got to take her behind the booth to reletive seclusion and have a bit of a smooch fest. I, of course, would take ticklish liberties with the wenches. Hee!

They go on year round in these parts~It's been awhile since I went, I was in a friend's Renfair wedding~so fun! I noticed massage booths but if there were stocks, I didn't see 'em. There's some upcoming, maybe it's time to check 'em out and report back on any adventures...
