Ion weapons fire ionised particles supposedly, that is particles that have a charge to them. If thats true, then they would strike a person and react with any particles on that person that were of opposite charge, creating a current. And as you probably know, a lot of current passed through a person creates intense heat, hence burning. 🙂 .
 
Hence, anyone who was blasted by a good sized ion burst would be cooked, not just shocked?
 
A good sized one yeah. If it was controlled enough and caught them in the head, there is a chance I suppose that it would screw around with the neurons. But I don't really know anything about Biology to be honest 😛 .
 
Ok, but a shot from a cannon the size of, say, a DC-15 rifle would be good enough to kill someone?
What I'm getting at is the fact that the Clones were made to counter the droid armies of the Confederacy, and as such, I'd think their weapons would have been made to match that need, ergo their rifles may have been more ion cannons than blaster rifles. I could be way off base on this though, I know.

The army was also made to be peacekeepers in the empire so they would have been more evenly balanced to fight multiple foes. Remember on the one planet, they were fighting the inhabitants of that world as well as the droids(clone wars) Also, the confederacy was made up of more than just the droid\trade faction and whatnot, but yes was a large chunk

Plus Ion cannons are devestating but not used often. Hell, look at what one did to a star destroyer, yet we never saw one again
 
Nope, it sounds about right. They do use EMP grenades after all 🙂 .
 
Alright. All of this in mind though, would it be a safe assumption that Aayla would be pushing up daisies, or whatever flora grows on Felucia, or is there a case to argue maybe not?

Wrong. In the Clone Wars series, a bit before Mara's time. She means Shaak Ti.
