NEW YORK (AP) - Veteran broadcaster Regis Philbin says he's retiring from his weekday talk show.

Regis, 79, made the announcement at the start of Tuesday morning's "Live With Regis and Kelly," which he has hosted for a quarter-century, most recently sharing hosting duties with Kelly Ripa.

Philbin said he would be stepping down from the show around the end of the summer, but he didn't specify a departure date.

I think he deserves to retire now, although I doubt he will just sit at home and not enjoy himself. Good for him. He deserves it.

I feel that show"jumped the shark" years ago. Regis made a wise and admirable decision IMO.
Now, maybe the show can finally die with dignity.

You need your own talk show!

Anyways, I would take over the show and write in scenes where Kelly gets kidnapped (often) by ninjas and bound barefoot (often). Musical guests would be classic rock acts.

Lol, maybe i stopped watching after he stopped hosting lol.. but i doubt he'd return to that 😛...

it's time for him to relax and stop being in front of the camera.. he's not a young guy anymore lol

I WISH!!! The new chick just doesn't cut it 🙁. I remember when that show just came out and it was like... "What, you AREN'T watching who wants to be a millionaire???". The music was badass too.
