Back when folks were punished by being placed in stocks/pillories in the public square, people were often encouraged to torment them. Whether tickling actually took place or not back then, it's a fun idea to think of the possibility. I guess some figure it's as good a way as any to have fun? lol

Unfortunately it was far more common to beat them, spit at them or throw bad vegetables or dead animals at them.

I get the impression, from seeing those videos, that the women have fully volunteered to be tickled. They don't seem surprised or upset at all.

I've seen a ton of videos on this Renfaire tickling and it seems like it's always foot tickling and the lees seem to be faking the laughing. They aren't tied up real well either. I guess some people like the public tickling thing, but i'd rather them be really ticklish than be in public faking it. Plus, it would be better to tickle the whole body, not just feet.

I agree that it probably took place only rarely if ever. But, for those who like history AND tickling...? It's not surprising to see it show up in so many stories, videos, etc.
