Lately I've been in a bit of a rut, seeing as how humanity has a penchant for raping, killing and stealing. But this article made me smile.

Long story short, a prison guard was attacked by an inmate, and the other inmates jumped in - and helped the guard. We're not all doomed. 🙂

I remember the Attica riot and subsequent massacre. This is a far cry from that.

If in fact this particular facility does treat its charges humanely as a matter of policy, then I'd say they were setting an example for other facilities, barring a select few, to follow.

I remember that too. What caused it? Were conditions in Attica really that bad that the inmates couldn't take it any longer? Or was it just inmate rage boiling over? Wasn't the bloody governor who ordered that the prisoners be massacred the same one who made into law the ultra fucking stupid Rockefeller drug laws? If so, I hope that governor rots in hell. Fifteen years to life for possession of an illegal substance IS NOT A FAIR AND JUST PUNISHMENT!
