I used to play Palladium exclusively.
I usually played rifts for the most part but graduated to the Palladium roll playing fantasy game after that, mostly on account of the fact that the cut-and-dry S.D.C. system was, overall, friendlier to gamers and G.M.'s alike than the M.D.C. system.
My reason why I say "used to" is simply because of Palladium's useless and increasingly erratic rules system. The company's founder kevin Siembeda is easily one of the most thoughtless game designers I have ever come across. As a game master, your SOLE job should be to worry about putting together a good game for your players, not to have to re-work the mechanics of an entire supplimental book from the ground up because the staff refuses to play test it's latest creations(something both Kevin AND his ex-wife Maryann both freely admit to). This, and coupled with the fact that during a tiff, Kevin Siembeda fired company's most talented writer to date(Bill Coffin) pretty much made me realise that Palladium was going nowhere but down...In short, Rifts and many other Palladium books became to me, nothing short of a waste of money.
There, of course, are a lot of people who are still interested in Rifts and other palladium products. To them, I say that's fine. But, as a veteran of just about all things Palladium, I can safely say that when you experience something that makes INCREDIBLY more sense in the rules department(the D-20 system comes to mind), you are going to begin to feel cheated.
