Maybe I can help ya out Papi, i saw this movie for a second time last weekend. With ticklejen too, i might add LOL!
Laurie was being dragged back to the house by Michael, he stops when Loomis tries to offer his life for hers. Laurie obviously couldn't run out into the street because Mike was blocking her way. She had no choice but to play hide and seek, as you put it. I also think that a small part of her, a tiny speck of inner Laurie, she wanted to go back in the house and maybe find a clue to why this freak was doing what he was doing to her. Aside from the photo obviously, but it's only speculation on my part here. Only instead of finding a clue, she found a gun and blew his fucking head off at the end.
Some people think he's still alive, but i don't think it's true. I think the reason how he could take the stabbing and gunshots was because being in a mental ward, you are given drugs on a regular basis and they definetly could've been a factor in not killing him quick. He probably felt the pain adn reacted to it, but then realized he still had plenty of strength left, I mean he's a BIG GUY standing at 6"7"!!!
For the record, Adam, I didn't hate the orignal Halloween. I saw it at age 12 and was scared shitless for two days after watching it. Especially the version on T.V. because you saw him as a kid in the ward, and the camera kept zooming closer and closer to him, which was terrifying considering their was no sound during that part. The music if anything, scared me more. And even like you said, you did rarely see a clear day shot of him. Just hearing him and seeing his shoulders, feet, hands, or from far distance was pretty scary. It's like looking across the street and seeing somebody LOL! I only went to see the movie, for the lst time, because i had to face my demons. Michael Myers took two days of sleep from me when i was 12, and i wanted them back dammit!!!
I don't need buckets of gore to entertain me, i just need a good story with cool likeable characters and good acting. The script was good, but they could've toned down the cussing, especially from Ronny and the teen girls. I liked that Annie survived, because her other character from the previous films didn't make it ultimately, so that was a nice touch i thought. Brad Dourif played a good town sherrif, finally people seeing him in a movie with no killer dolls or hobbits. Say what oyu want about Scout, because I'm sure people said the same thing about Jamie Lee back in the day, even though she was Janet Leigh's daughter. And she looked hot in glasses which is more than i can say for the girl i dated in high school.
Goodliever, you've always had nice comments about my work, i appreciate that. But answer the how and why to this. We find out in H2 that Laurie is his sister, but never the why he is killing her. It was never made clear that he hated his family, because he didn't kill his parents when he had the chance. Let's just say that it led to H6 where we they linked him with cults and symbols and what not (YAWN)
Zombie's didn't have that, because Michael Myers wasn't under some spell (at least I hope he's not, pray tell) He was a psychopath, clear and simple. When you don't know hte answers, it doesn't make it more terrifying, it makes me pissed that i wasted money renting or seeing a movie. IF you can't understand the plot and the characters, there's no point to watching a movie. Hell, he wouldn't ahve killed Judith if she hadn't hit him, because he didn't just go into the room and stab her, he lovingly (even though it looked perv) caressed her and tried to seek comfort in his big sis after killing. Either that, or he figured with the boyfriend dead he could go trick or treating.
The boy was dangerously disturbed and he was already too far gone by the time his mother and teachers caught on. Had they seen the problem when it started, they possibly could've prevented him from killing people.
And you're all wrong, the best part in the movie was the end when she kills him and you see the close up of them as kids. If only Laurie would've known she was a Myers, it would've been an even better ending.
Bottom line is, that rockstar turned filmmaker wrote a damn great script and made it into a masterpiece. Let's all be grateful that it wasn't a Gus Fucking Van Snot Psycho remake that was word for word and scene by scene. All that prick did was make money off a movie that he didn't really make from scratch.
Anyway, I've said my peace, go easy on the Zombie. If he can make a believer out of me, then he can make a believer out of anyone.
