That's a funny thing, I'll bet he didn't mind the pay cheque or the residuals he gets when the show reruns everyday on the "Space" channel up here in Canada. What an ass hole.

Hmmm.... I think there was a time when Shatner resented Star Trek because of type casting, but you can understand that to a point. I can also understand how he can get annoyed with some of the fans too. Live long and Prosper is all well and good, but if you talk to me in Klingon I'd tell you to get a life too. Then again, I have often thought, if the worst thing you do in your life is wear a Star Fleet Uniform to work, then you probably have a better chance of getting into heaven then most of us.

In all fairness, I never saw Robert Beltran in anything before Voyager, maybe he just needed the work because he couldn't get it anywhere else. I hated working in KFC in 2005, I don't think that makes me a hypocrite.

BTW DON'T USE THE GRAVY, I KNOW WHAT IT IS!

I can see your point,if he only did one or two seasons. But seven?

Oddly enough, Beltran doesn't say that he "hates Star Trek." He says that he doesn't take it as seriously as some fans do, and that fans sometimes give him a hard time about that.

And really, it's hard to argue with that on this thread.

Well, I'd be fed up if I had to play second to a female Captain for 7 seasons. Plus the fact he may well have set himself up to be typecast as a stoic, deeply spiritual Native American descendant for the rest of his career.

But yet,people will. 😛

Exactly what I was thinking there. I worked at plenty of Sci Fi conventions and geek events in the early 2000's. There are 2 types of Trek fan, or Sci Fi geek in general:

The Trekker: They self-styled that name and will always correct you if you call them a Trekkie, as they believe it to be derogatory to the fan-base or some shit. They are the ones who take the show and any other geek interest they have way too seriously, to a scary obsessive compulsive level, and are usually anti-social jerkoffs because of it. They're the kind who will retreat to their hotel room after a con with their precious signed picture of Jeri Ryan, and maybe a dress of her's that they bought at a charity auction for $4000, to do who-knows-what with.

The Trekkie: They'll call themselves Trekkies because that's what they are, they're generally too laid back to give a shit, they'll embrace it. They love the show...love it. But they love socializing with other fans and fellow geeks more. They'll go for the experience of the event, and will go out drinking afterward, maybe invite a bunch back to a room with more booze and laugh at a blooper reel one of them bought from a shady vendor at the con.

Beltran was referencing the first bunch.

Robert Beltram said:
"I think the weirdest thing — and it's not that weird, it's just a small annoyance — is that people who take Star Trek very seriously seem to want to kill me, because I don't take it very seriously. I find it very strange that people would actually hate me or dislike me just because I don't like Star Trek."

What an ass hole.

That's just about the stupidest, and most ignorant comment anybody has ever made on a Star Trek ever. In fact, it is probably as UnTrek as you can get. I've had women bosses before, and I prefer them, because they don't take any bull shit from female co-workers. Mind you the women I have worked under got their position before Affirmative Action type laws forced people to give promotions to people based on things other then ability, so you knew that had to be tough and capable to break through the glass ceiling. Regardless of that though, you really have to get over your hang-ups about women in positions of authority, it just makes you look like a tool.

It was meant to be satire, a joke.

No, but he DOES say "...I don't like Star Trek".
