Just wondering how many roller derby enthusiasts there are out there. I mean, is it me, or is it simply one of the hottest/greatest sports ever?! YOWZA! Anyway, Houston has 4 teams at the moment, but the popularity of the sport seems to be growing again.

They actually had one here in Athens GA last month, and another this month.
Pretty cool Roller Derby is still around. Of course its a ladies league around here.

Who remembers that TV show called "Roller Games" back in the late eighties to early ninties?

It was supposed to be the WWF of roller derby.

I used to watch it all the time.

geez u dont need to be taller...lol if u are short enough u can just knock them down easier( GO FOR THE ANKLES!)...lol... but a roller derby would totally rock to be in.. LOL my theme song would have to be roller derby queen by Jim Croce...just for shits and giggles...

denver roller derby rocks!!! I love those girls with all of my heart, last weekj, my friend chuck and I won the seat in the couch of doom. Greatest seats in the house, girls fall right in your lap, and 24 oz. pabst blue ribbon beer, who could ask for anything more, love roller derby with every fiber of light in my soul!!!

OMG I remember watching roller derby back in the 70s where they would switch between the males and the females. I didn't realize that it was still around. And yes, to me, it always had that fake wrestling feel to it. Like it was rigged so that one team or another would win. Interesting.

Both my mom and my cousin used to do that. Looks like fun, but I wouldn't want to walk around with injuries all the time.

evil-looking long-haired heavy metal rockers roller derbying in full black leather studded paraphernalia

i remember that movie with Raquel Welch...about roller derby..it was so cool..and she was so tough but beautiful all at the same time..it was quite competitive...and hmm then there was a movie with Paul Newman called "Hot Shots" i believe was about roller derby..

Iz,are you thinking about Rollerball with James Cann?It came out in 1975 or so.It was set far in the future and the game was played on a roller derby rink but they used something that looked like a small cannon ball and some of the guys on each team rode motorcycles while the rest of them skated.
