Being a huge Bowie fan I hated reading this! I think bowie is a musical genius. I just don't think the music world would've been the same without him. He is the original Chameleon. He was great at adapting his look and music for the changing decades. I have to admit Ziggy was cool, but aren't you glad he changed into the something else. Ziggy would have gotten old and boring. I love this quote for Rollinstones.com "This is a man who did for pretensions what Jimi Hendrix did for electric guitar."

Yeah I agree with you. Bowie was a huge drug addict, but he stop using the drugs. He doesn't smoke anymore and he stopped using coke. Bowie still looks like Bowie, even though he did use a ton of coke and at one point weighed about 90 pounds. There was a reason he was called the Thin 'White' Duke. Keith Richards just looks scary! Man I would not want to meet him alone in a dark alley. I do like the Stones songs, but I think a lot of their songs start to sound the same. I don't get that feeling with Bowie. I think each album is interesting and different. Try to compare Low with Hunky Dory. It would be hard for me to compare them.

Hands down Bowie any day! I have never been overly impressed with the Rolling Stones. Too much of their stuff sounds the same. Besides I would rather do see a living rockstar in concert then a band of zombies

I agree with a lot of their stuff sounding the same. I'm probably going to get spanked for saying this lol, but I think that the Stones are overrated. Sure, they have some good songs out there (mostly their early stuff) but that's about it for me.

Bowie on the other hand, he's always caught my attention.

ok hes had hes had more than his share of drugs and parties but come on thats rock and roll. porcelaindoll you say bowies off the coke and smoke well so is keith. maybe only recently but the man doesnt even drink anymore! and so what if he does? im not about to judge him for that.

bottom line is the stones are one of the greatest bands there has ever been and keith richards has more than earned his right to voice his opinion, and i bet the estimated 200 MILLION plus people who bought their 22 albums around the world would agree. course the estimated 10 MILLION who brought bowies 19 albums might disagree...

Granted, I think Bowie (both personally and musically) has aged far more gracefully. Bowie's newer material is still cool, whereas the Stones should've retired about 20 years ago.

Also, he seems to have become a pretty decent actor. His performance as Nikolai Tesla in The Prestige was awesome.
