...to the Brewers

The much-anticipated blockbuster trade involving former Cy Young winner Zack Greinke became official Sunday afternoon when the Royals worked out a six-player swap with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Royals packaged Greinke with shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt and $2 million in a build-for-the-future return that netted shortstop Alcides Escobar and three prospects: outfielder Lorenzo Cain and right-handed pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress.

“I like the deal because the players we got are skilled, athletic middle-of-the-field guys,” Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. “And they improve our team going forward (by) blending in with what we have.”

The Royals have been ripped off before when it comes to trading their best players for prospects. Johnny Damon (winning two rings since leaving), Jermaine Dye and Carlos Beltran were examples. The result: mediocrity that has now reached 25 years.

Greinke knew that AAA Kansas City was going no place.

Ewing Kauffmann has completed his 1 millionth turn in his grave.

Did you really think Greinke would stay, or that they would get someone useful for him? Come on. The Royals and Pirates are two teams that might as well be considered in a stepping stone between Triple-A and the Majors. Players go there and build up a reputation, then move on to greener pastures.

Thank ownership that wants to make more money with lower payroll and don't care about wins or the fanbase and then they cant understand why they cant get more than 9000 fans in there seats.

KC hasn't been a relavant team since a gentleman by the name of Dan Quisenberry was using an unorthodox submarine motion to close games. Now, Mr Quisenberry is with the angels, having passed away many years ago, and the Royals are still irrelevant.

Teams like the Royals and Pirates are why there should be some form of real revenue sharing in baseball. Free agents dont go to teams like those, and good players don't stay with teams like those. It's sad, just like the Pirates haven't been good since Fransisco Cabrera's hit went into left field in front of Barry Bonds.

Ronald Reagan was president the last time the Royals won anything, and Bush 41 was president the last time the Pirates even came within sniffing distance of the postseason. It will be interesting to see how long, if ever, it takes either of those teams to be good again.

The AAA Kansas City (as I call them) has been run into the ground by David Glass since Mr. K passed on. Ewing Kauffman wanted to win and did everything in his power to produce a champion after the A's left town. The Royals had a great pitching rotation, a solid bullpen, a insane closer with the bats of George Brett and Hal McRae to give them cushion to win. Plus the support was awesome. But as of late, KC fan has become dysfunctional and emotional whilst Redbird fans fill the "K" during the annual I-70 series.

Fire David Glass and prospects instantly improve.

Look at the bright side Khan, Mr. Glass has one of the highest profit margins in the league, yipee :frustrated:
