That painting....

Has a place of honor in our living room, just above the TV....

I can go way back to the start in 1992, with my homeade Ouija if you'd like...

YAY! I read tarot cards but haven't Ouija'd in YEARS. I miss it. My mom & her bf, when we were kids, would first say a prayer for ONLY positive energy and then we'd start. They were familiar with a number of spirits who apprently spoke w/them regularly. My folks were divorced, my mom lived 300 miles away. One of the spirits, Maria, said she had a message for us (my sister and I) She was sending us a warning. She said, "you have a new neighbor, be careful. he drives a yellow convertible." (There's no way my mom would've known, she left years ago.) A week later, the guy hit some kid crossing the street. Ran right over him. (shudders)
XOXO

I've seen a few extremely odd things in my time, and I read constantly about the unexplained.I'd be more than happy to talk about it if you want to.

Please.....

feel free to discuss it here, as I will discuss some other things in the near future...

Very interesting. I myself have experienced supernatural things in my 22 years of life. I also have a spiritual gift or two, with which I do not know what to do with. I will wait for God to use me as He wills. I dare not venture out to abuse and "have fun" with these gifts these or profit or gain from them either. And I dare not experiment either, especially being that my gifts are underdeveloped and I do not know how to use them properly. That will come with time though, and again, God and God alone will be the one to guide me. I refer and many refer to abilities as "gifts" rather than "powers". No one has power but God.

As for summonings and the seeking out of entities, I say approach with caution. You may inadvertantly set off a trigger of events and stir negative spirits and God knows what else. This thirst for knowledge can very well be the undoing of a person. Any number of paranormal things could happen to you, and most of it is very random. The supernatural is very chaotic by nature. In it's rawest form, its unstable and cannot be wielded by just anyone. Even those that have shown an ability to bend a gift to their will often have a hard time controlling it.

Also consider it drains away your life force. Meaning your mental, physical and spiritual energy. Every time you use a gift a small part of you dies. Its quite literally slowly kills you when these abilities are used. And the only reason we see religious healers, etc., keep going and going is because these gifts are from God, and they are using them as He intended. God will "recharge" these individuals until He no longer wishes them to serve Him in this way, this ministry. The danger is that the devil can also give gifts to those that serve him. So be wary of that also.

If I may, most of these curiousities lead to evil things, restless spirits who have been roaming for so long they've become twisted and unstable. Most people when going into this sort of thing get into it for the amusement value, not knowing exactly what they're dealing with. And no book can prepare you for it effectively enough. Satan preys on curiousity. He can manefest as a friendly spirit, peaceful aura, etc., and use you in some way or bring negativity into your life or the life of others. Playing with the fire of the supernatural may seem fun and entertaining, but it often brings curses, vexes, and other grave misfortunes into one's life.

Theres a reason these things are supernatural. And I feel that unless God is calling you to involve yourself in the supernatural, then you shouldn't bother with it. Leave it be. Curiousity killed the cat. While you may experience something great and sublime, the odds are against it. Its really a crapshoot, and I don't think curiousity is worth the price I might pay for a peek or greater understanding of the aspect of otherwordly dimensions. My concerns are on this plane of reality, and unless I must venture forth into the paranormal, I won't. And neither should anyone else.

I live in an old neighborhood here in town, so these houses have been owned by many people. About 1/2 the houses on our street are said to be haunted:

-The house across the street - The neighbors swore they heard screams in their kitchen a few times and have heard cabinets open and chairs fall in the middle of the night. They found out later that the old lady who owned the house before them had hung herself because her husband had died in the (I don't remember which one they said, maybe Vietnam?) War.

- My house - Every once in a while, I hear the sound of kids laughing on the stairs that lead to the basement. I have no idea what it is, so I go to the stairs, and the sound gets farther away. This only happens every once in a while, and I swear nothing else in the house is on.

-The neighbor's house - You know how sometimes you misplace things and can't find them? A few times, my neighbors have put things like on top of the TV or on the table or somewhere in the house that they KNOW where they put it. When they go to find it later, it's not there anymore, but usually reappears right where they left it. They said that they had heard that a bankrobber (or some kind of criminal) had lived there a few people before them.

- At the church, If you go into the big sanctuary, you can feel the presence of many eyes on you at once or people around you when there is no one around. A lot of people believe our church is haunted, either from past members or from funerals. None of them do anything, they're just there.

Ours likes to hide stuff and open the front screen door, which we keep LOCKED if the doors are open. Sometimes he plays with the windchimes. We guess it's a mischeivous ghost, or maybe a little kid...😛

Allow me to run a few quick instances by you and two of which made a believer out of two friends of mine who thought I was crazy.

The missing remote. A friend of mine, who half believed in the supernatural though his wife seeing her parents in their home and is given goosebumps when ever she says they are there, never believed there was something going on in my house until one evening we were watching TV. We wanted to change the channel to put on the Hockey game and it was nowhere to be found. We had just had it moments before and we tore the entire room apart looking for it. We both came back to the area we were sitting originally and looked down on the lounge chair and there was the remote. We had looked right there just a minute ago and there was NO way it was there.

Another instance, this one more pronounced. I was at a friends home with my Ouija board. The spirit of my board at the time name was Beth. I instructed my friend that only ONE person was to ask questions and that person was me. That is how it was. I didn't play with folks and the movement of the board and oracle was genuine. Every time I asked the questions, an answer was given prominantly by the spirit. Every time she asked, nothing happend. I told her again that only I was able to ask. Again I did so and again the answer was given. There were a few times where she interupted me during the questions and the answer was given with more hard movement of the oracle or pointer. On about the 6th time I was inurupted, the board and pointer was thrown violently off our laps and about 5 feet from where we were sitting.
She freaked out and was terrorfied for the rest of the night and would never let me bring the board back to her house.

There are other instances I will get into later if ya want.

AWESOME stories!

Just keep in mind, kids....

Ouija boards are NOT the fun toy Milton Bradley would have you think they are....

They're not necessarily dangerous, and many people have found out important info using them, but they CAN turn ugly in a heartbeat, w/o warning at all....

Use them, but do so cautiously, and study up on them before using them....

More later...

😉

One thing I'm kind of curious about with paranormal investigation is what kind of procedures such a disciplin would follow. If modern science follows an empiracle standard- results are repeatable and can be demonstrated, how does one apply that to paranormal studies. The closest possible model I can see is psychology, which, pardon the phrasology, psychology is the bastard child of philosophy and the social sciences crammed into an empiracle setting (save for the behaviorist school which works strictly on observable behavior).

Generally speaking you'd need history for research and records, but then after you do the background work, what next? How sound is the methodology for such a practice? Can one draw definite conclusions?

That being said, I personally think there is probably some spirit energy out there that might be able to manifest in small ways, though I treat the idea with skepticism and also a healthy wariness. That's potentially one pool that can turn very deep very quick.

Absolutely...

Before digging up the past, one must study it...

We plan on going back to the Gein place sometime in the near future, but Meems and I literally spent dang near 2 weeks straight studying, and getting all the info we possibly could.

I had mentioned the fact that while I was on the Gein property, I felt an overwhelming "presence" that couldn't be explained away....

I felt great the entire day, but the second I stepped foot on the property, that all vanished...

I felt physically ill, and mentally as if I were being told to "get the hell out" in so many words...

Meems and I discussed this to great lengths, and have come to the conclusion that it may have been Gein's mother, being overprotective and overbearing, as she had been in life.

She was EXTREMELY against damn near everyone, except her two kids, Ed and Henry, and constantly warned them about the "outside world".

In death, perhaps she is still trying to protect them?

We came across a website dedicated to ghost hunting, and they had verified what we had thought...

There is a spiritual presence there, and this was confirmed in a picture taken from the roadside, of an orb, floating nearby where the house had once stood.

I will get into a deeper discussion later on, when I have more time...

Thanks to you all for keeping it civil; I appriciate nothing more than a civil discussion about something I am passionate about, with a bunch of people that are like minded, either for or against....

First, i want to state i'm drubnk niow., hence any typos. But that asside, i have a friend who have an aunt, who won't let oiuja boards into there house. Now, one might wonder why. well, aprently, part of her femily used a oiuja board one night, and something bad happened. they never told me the details. however, two dys later the guy hung himslef. She said something about a spirit, but i can't remember. however, i seriously suggest people don't play with these boards.

Now see its things like that that are disturbing. Possession is one of things that concerns me the most of all of this. It has happened that whem attempts to summon something or make contact with it have failed, something in the process went awry and the spirit or entity not only came but entered a person for a determined ammount of time.

Exorcisms are often the only way determined spirits, unclean spirits, demons, ghosts, whatever, can be forced out.

If you're ever going to go "ghost hunting" Laz, I strongly suggest you come prepared with anti-demonic protection. Some demons are mistaken for disturbed spirits and will often coax a person into letting them use them as a medium, to deliver a messege, etc.

Bottom lining it, if you feel a negative presence stop what the hell you are doing and perform a blessing in the name of God onto you and those with you. Even if you feel nothing, or even feel a good presense don't let this decieve you and don't lower your defences. The devil is a hypocrite, and his creatures are sneaky.

I would also suggest going into all of this with a clean conscience and no lingering, surpressed or repressed emotions. Try and clear yourself of concious thought. Evil spirits will often try to confuse you in an effort to lead you into further trouble. And unless you have the gift of discernment, you won't know if these spirits are being sincere or not. They are often very vague, sometimes on purpose.

One other thing, and its really important ok?

Ask it it's name. Because if it turns out to be a demon or unclean spirit or something that means you harm, you will have power and some ammount of control over it. You will have the ability to cast it away by speaking it's name directly in the chant, prayer, or what have you.

The reason demons don't want to tell the exorcist their names is for this very reason. They begin to lose their control and grip over the person they've possessed. Knowing their name and performing binding prayers in the name of God will help the exorcist control the demon and prep the final stages of the exorcism.

Now naturally the assumption would be "well, they can just lie can't they?"

Well, I'd imagine that could happen, but when you demand it of them, and say it with authority and with utter faith in God's power they have to tell you, as everything is under God's dominion.

God is the ultimate defense and offense against evil beings. I don't know if you're religious or not or have faith in God, or even believe in Him, but I'd highly suggest going into this spiritually prepared. Going in with just knowledge of how you think it works or can be explained is like going on a hunt with an unloaded gun. Something unforseen and unexpected could happen and you need to be prepared for it.

Stumbling around like Scooby Doo and the gang is going to cause you nothing but problems. Not that I'm saying you aren't prepared. Knowledge is power, but God is more. Consider that.

This has to do with my experiences in 1992...

A similar event like this happened....

Playing with a homeade Ouija, and then a real Ouija, like they were toys, instead of the devices they really are....

Demonic posession, and a spirit/demon let loose, the origins of which I THINK I know, as in WHO it once was....

I'm not jumping into this without studying, and knowing God is with me....

"Fooled you once, shame on you; fooled me twice, shame on me."

This is why my Mom & her bf always had us all pray first~for only positive spirits to contact us! We were taught young to "respect and fear" the Board. We took it out and looked at it when we kids but we NEVER attempted to play with it without supervision~we simply didn't know what to do with it.

Hmm...I suppose I should inject my own quick view on Ouija Boards. While I know they CAN occassionally be used to contact good spirits, I also know that it's Vegas odds, and you never know WHAT you're gonna actually get when contact is made. I know they are very dangerous (the fact they are and have been sold as 'toys' absolutely appals me), and I personally will have nothing to do with them. I will NOT use them under any circumstance, and Lazzy knows full well I will not even allow one in my house or my presence. IMO they are a potential gateway to a realm we know next to nothing about, and are not equipped to deal with.

I'll Post Mine Later..

I have a torn rotator cuff, so typing lengthy posts is rather uncomfortable.

My High School girlfriend was Catholic. Her mother forbid Quija boards in their house because she said the house could no longer be blessed if one was used in it.

I've seen supernatural things.I also have an,attribute I guess you could say that I don't think is particularly natural. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with it exactly yet.Anyway,as for personal experiences,I've seen what are usually called shadow people twice.Once in my garage, and once when I was in my bedroom. The one in the garage I just caught extremely briefly and didn't get any sort of vibe from it,the other one though I got the impression had been watching me for awhile, even though it bolted as soon as I became aware of it being there. There's so many theories as to what these things are,it's almost difficult to know where to start on researching them.

I have a question to all of you open-minded TMF'ers out there....

Meems and I will be getting our Paranormal Hunters licenses within, I'd say, the next couple of years or so....
-----------------------------------------

How many of you out there believe in supernatural goings-on, and such?
-----------------------------------------

Licenses? Hoe does this work exactly Your Laz-ness? First I've heard of it.

Anyway, yes there is so much MORE out there. The five sense world we see, hear, taste, touch and smeel every day is so little. There are layers and spheres of existence around, above, below and through everything that confronts us each day.

I think becomming a "hunter" implies that you're going off hunting for something that's lost or hidden. I think if anything it's us that's been lost all this time. Disconnected from the things that exist around us. I've personally found that things have been more a case of learning to "re-discover" everything. If you open your mind to other possibilities and levels of existence, you discover a little bit more each day. It's like it comes looking for you.

Fully aware that he comes across as a pontificating wanker, Giant James enters.......

I own one myself. Bought it off eBay. Rather puzzlingly considering how "unusual" my life has been in many ways, it's never produced a single result. I guess the bastards must be scared of me. 😉

Seriously, here's my thoughts on Oujia boards...

Human beings are capable of seeing and perceiving much more than they realise. Speaking to the dead isn't much different from sticking your head underwater and making hand-signs to a SCUBA diver.

The reason most don't, is because they think they're just ordinary people. They think people who are mediums like John Edward and Colin Fry are picked out from birth and bestowed with a gift. Not true. People like that are simply born with a more natural grasp on it. Anyone can learn to kick a football, but some are born with the natural ability that can be honed to make them a star in the NFL. The chief mark of whether someone can do it or not, is understanding that belief is the key. Someone who thinks a medium is a person with a rare gift and they're just an ordinary person, has as much chance of being a medium as I have of convincing Myriads that the Illuminati exist.

But give that person a focus, something they believe has artifical power to facilitate a psychic event, and their own belief will trigger their latent ability. A ouija board works in this way more obviously than anything else. But what is it? It's not a high-vibrational crystal with a similar frequency to a different dimension where spirits reside, it's a lump of wood with letters on it. Letters that form meaning only when placed in an objective context like a language and indicated by a planchette made of plastic with a tadge of glass in it. Nothing other-worldy about that. All it does is make the person believe and enable them to negate their self-doubt and feelings of ordinary-ness. It's a placebo.

It's like someone suffering from cancer who's given a "new experiemtnal drug that tests have shown really kicks cancer's ass" and suddenly starts to go into remission. Yet two months later the doctor tells them regretfully it's proven to be a failiure, and their tumour grows back in all it's old fury. All that changed was their belief. What was making them get better was their own innate healing ability. (And when you consider that humanity's collective focus creates the world in the image of what it contains in its imagination, we have some seriously fucked up minds on this planet!)

Now the thing about ouija is that it's got the stigma of occultism hanging around it. Picture the five or six teenagers in the darkened room, tremulously asking "is anybody theeeeerrrreeee?" and you can understand that most ouija users would be nervous and seeing the Antichrist lurking in every shadow. With the belief in the power of the ouija board and their thoughts turned to dark and shadowy spirits, it's no wonder why so many horror stories emerge from ouija board use. Some, if not most of them are undoubtedly the products of overwrought and overative imaginations, but some aren't. The results of such a communications are rarely, if ever dangerous, but they can be terrifying to someone who isn't prepared for them. Most of the time it's just the spirit equivalent of a drunk kegger attendee, laughing his nuts off at scaring the shit out of some dumb-ass mortal who opened the channel.

Hey Astarte, lend me your chains a moment. This silly bastard is scared stiff! Hee hee hee hee heeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

So what controls the sort of contact you have? From what I believe, it's your own mind. It's a very Bhuddist saying, but your focus really does determine your reality. Attempt a supernatural experiment in a darkened room, with your heartbeat raised and expecting the worst, and you'll get some pisshead ghost making you think you're Linda Blair's stunt double, complete with revolving neck and projectile-vomiting pea-soup. Start it by clearing your mind and surrounding yourself with Light, and you'll have a more satisfying experience. Believe in your own ability to do it without arcane artiacts and it'll make that part easier.

If the worst comes to the worst, it's important to remember that your own imagination is the invading beatie's best weapon. Imagine the worst case possible... A ghost materialises across the room and swoops toward you, cloak billowing in the ether and chains-a-rattling. Now if that really happened, most people would eat their way through the wall and be up the street howling at the top of their lungs.

I wonder, has a ghost ever been met with a raised eyebrow and a polite request that he fuck off and haunt someone else? Possibly, yes. Annoyed the ghost is, threateningly he rattles.

Yes, very nice. Now do you mind I'm trying to contact Auntie Mildred and ask the senile old bitch where she hid her priceless coin collection. Now piss off you sad decrepit prick.

What's he gonna do? Sue for hurting his feelings?

There's billions of spirits drifting around the planes and an incident of The Exorcist's gravity needs a seriously powerful and pissed off meanie to come through. A veritableOsama of the spiritual realms. The chances of you walking into your nearest mosque to chat to a muslim and finding yourself face to face with Osama or Saddam are pretty long. 99% of the time you'd meet a mixture of indifference and cheerful interest in your curiosity. You'll only meet an asshole if you go looking for one, or leave yourself open to one.

Now hopefully I've not annoyed anyone too much, although I always do a few when I go into pontificating mode. I sound like a total know-all bastard even to myself, so I hope I've restrained that tendency a wee bit.

Later gators...

As my mate says

(she's a trained Wiccan practicioner who is a sensitive) "You never know WHO or WHAT is on the other side " of that board, and a lot of time spirits DO lie.

Right now she and her hubby have a FUN situation on their hands. Baiscally one of the entities that haunt their house is the spirit of the former owners, a VERY straightlaced French Canadian ULTRA Catholic couple. Now my friend is an openly practicing Wiccan , and these spirits always get extra violent and snarky when she's performing ritual, even to trying to attack her, throwing stuff around the room( btw I've witnessed this as she and I were celebrating a moon rite. and the bloody temperature dropped at least 20 degrees when the manifestations occured)). She's doing cleanseing rituals , but nothing seems to be working.

Laz and Mimi , I'll be in touch with a long e-mail/pm really soon! 😉

A Question

Honestly, I believe everyone has experienced something that can't be explained... it's just a matter of whether that person in their mind believes there is a rationale to the experience or not. I suppose I could go look it up, but I'm hoping for a more exhaustive answer (if there is one). What or is there a difference between "paranormal" and "supernatural"?

Like most, I've had several experiences that no conventional science could explain. Including being teased by a spirit using a person I never met before as the medium. (Which may or may not be something altogether different!) Most of my understanding in these matters comes from a Judeo/Christian frame of reference, but it's intriguing to compare/contrast faith based teachings with purely scientific evidence.

Oh yeah, btw, some of you may remember Annaloo from a few years back, but she told me about spending the night at the prison they filmed "Shawshank Redemption", (It's been closed for some time, but they offer tours and sleepovers..or at least they once did) and she had several experiences with the supernatural/paranormal. Like I said, dunno if they still open the place, but it may be a location some of you want to check out. Sorry I don't recall the name of location, other than it's in Ohio somewhere.
