So I can't stand when a producer bumps one of his/her threads for the sake of bumping. It is annoying and doesn't allow me to see the newer video samples or maybe even a fellow tmfers personal video they shot. Personally I feel producers should be able to post there vid but not bump. If they want to answer a tmfers question they should just pm them. this allowing so we can see everyones video samples. It will never happen and I know that it is a selling strategy and that's ok but bumping a old thread one that lets say is months old there in no need for that other then just because sales must be low.

What do you think? Is one ok to you and not the other?? and what are your thoughts on bumping threads that are months to years old???

(Note: I don't want to hear from producers or tmfers who's answer is that it is there right, ohh there just answering questions, and all this other jive, I know it is there right. but doesn't change the fact it is annoying so is it annoying to you and/or when does it become annoying to you)

It happens. I don't really notice cause when I check out the clips section the first thing I do is scroll to the bottom and then edit the sorting order to "Thread start time". That way it doesn't matter who's bumped what, I see the latest threads in order.

lol now that is funny

if that is true why wouldn't the moderators of the vid section set that as the norm?? it would stop all this bumping among the producers and make it easy for everyone to see the new vids???

I agree that bumping one's old clip advertisement threads after a certain amount of time without good reason is pretty lame. It's very poor forum etiquette. But I totally disagree that producers shouldn't be allowed to answer questions in the threads themselves (as opposed to doing it by PM, as you suggest). An answer may very well interest other people than the person who asked the question, and an intriguing debate might possibly come out of it.

It's certainly a more legitimate move than bumping one's thread without reason. In fact, I feel it's also better than adding a thank you note each and every single time someone posts a positive comment. It makes sense to thank people for their support, but in my opinion it can easily lead to "bumping" abuse. I'm not condemning those who do it, though. It's their own business. But if one wants to thank people I think it's best to combine several "thank yous" in the same post, possibly including an answer or comment to add more value to the post.

Personally, while I haven't always been perfect, I usually try to post in my own threads only to address a comment or question, or to provide additional content. Which, again, I feel is perfectly acceptable. If a thread stops getting replies, well, I have to accept that there isn't much I can do about it without resorting to meaningless bumping and that the thread will be pushed down the list very quickly. It's disappointing, but it's only fair.

I'd like to point out that without people posting comments and the producer posting replies, a post usually falls off the first page in a matter of hours, potentially overlooked and/or forgotten by most people before they've had a chance to check it out. So you actually don't get to see everyone's video previews. With so many producers out there nowadays the thread rotation is extremely fast. Unless you're one of the more popular and prolific producers who get plenty of view and replies, giving their threads a fairly long life, your own clip advertisement thread may turn out to be mostly pointless, especially if you can't post comments/answers, giving the thread a slightly better chance of getting noticed. It makes you wonder why you went to all that trouble making the clip and posting about it.

I have to wonder, is it really that common for producers to gratuitously bump their own threads after several months or years without reason? I can't say I see it all that often. Still, if someone else posts a comment a long time after the thread was started, that's fair game, and the producer has every right to reply. The fact that it annoys you is unfortunate, but it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it.

All of this is just my personal opinion, of course.
