Should prostitution be legal nation wide?

It is not just "lonely old men" who use the services of a prostitute. A lot of married men, and single men with girlfriends are arrested for picking up prostitutes. Why do they do it? For a variety of reasons I suppose.

I agree with both you and AnnieHall. First off, cops should be worried about serious crimes, not who's gettin laid for a fee. Secondly, I agree with Bugman that it's not just for lonely old men. Men and women that travel constantly for their jobs have difficulty being able to have a serious and stable relationship because their careers get in the way. However, I believe everything deserves the opportunity to release sexual tension and that is where brothels would fit in perfectly. The traveling businessmen or women out there who just want to satisfy their sexual wants, but don't have time for a serious relationship, would be GREAT business for brothel locations.

I think that the main concern and argument against brothels would be from strippers and strip club owners who don't want to be involved in sexual activities. Strip clubs would lose tons of business if brothels were made legal, and strippers who aren't into the idea of having sex would find themselves flipping burgers for minimum wage after once making more money in a week then people with real jobs.

There would be any number of political and religious figures leading the charge against legalizing prostitution. I doubt the desires of strip club owners and their employees would be a major factor.

It should absolutely be legalized. What two consenting adults want to do sexually, even if money is involved, should not be regulated by the government. As someone else who posted in this thread pointed out, legalizing prostitution would also make it safer.

Why is prostitution a "crime"? Who is getting hurt if two consenting adults want to agree on a price in exchange for sex? I've always thought that prostitution being illegal was one of the stupidest laws that many states in this country have.

It can go ether way, I don't really care. I mean i would never go to a prostitute, but that's my discussion.

It absolutely would be a huge factor. Think of the potential lost business these clubs will suffer at the hands of brothels. Why would a horny single guy throw 300 dollars at a girl to take off her clothes when he can have sex instead? When it comes to making decisions regarding industry, business concerns far outweigh the "moral" police.

Granted, it will never get legalized because Congress members want to be re-elected, and decisions like that could hurt their chances when running for office next election time. However, from an economic standpoint it would make sense to legalize it, but it's just far too complex to be able to set guidelines and make sure that it stays within the brothels. Even if there were brothels, there will always be the street hookers offering it up for a cheaper price.

It already kinda is

In our society the best looking people generally get pulled up into the wealthy class, and for what purpose other than sex and to reproduce with them. The more wealthy a man is, the more beautiful his wife tends to be. This is similar to prostitution because the more money you have, the more and better sex you will have. . The most beautiful and sought after women are the highest cost. It is like a giant prostitution line starting from kiki on the corner who costs you $20 to the Jessica Biel's and other top beauty celebrities married to million and billionaires who can afford it..

Yes...yes is should.

To quote the late great George Carlin:

Selling is legal

Fucking is legal

Why isn't selling fucking legal?!

Why is it illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away?!

I mean of all that things that you can do to somebody, giving them an orgasm is hardly the worst thing that can happen to them!

I see your point. But lets face it. People involved in the adult entertainment business are looked down upon by much of society. Many Americans still carry at least a bit of our Puritan ancestors in them. Of course, at least some of these same people might slip into a strip joint now and then. 😉 I just don't see the industry as having enough clout to have much effect on legislation. I could be wrong.

Agree, for the most part. Even it were legalized there would still be a "black market" if you will. But it seems to me that making it legal would free up at least some law enforcement resources, making the remaning illegal aspects easier to deal with.

Prostatution is a crime for three reasons 1) there are allot of bad people who rent out children. 2) I enables women to be sexually empowered and make a proffit, 3) Most feminist are fat ugly cows who can't give it away so they don't think the atractive women should be able to make a buck at it.

Again, I agree with making it legal, but I also agree in strong regulations.

Your kidding yourself, legalizing brothels would make Strip Clubs more money. Right now in New York it is against the law for a dancer to even sit on a guys lap, if the laws were chainged they would lighten up on the strip clubs, and guys who couldn't afford to go to the brothel would buy table dances.

Not to mention the fact that most Russian strippers living in North America are working against there will as dancer, and hooking on the side anyways.

Like a draft? When everyone turns 18, they have to register with the selective prostitution services. 😛

I'm just trying to picture what the certification schooling would be like. Could you imagine taking a girl home to your parents and having conversations about occupations?

"So, what do YOU do, Denise?"

"Well, I'm a certified prostitute, specializing in oral servicing, with some experience collaborating with teams. I hope to one day expand my skills into anal therapy, or maybe move into upper management, but there's just SO much politics!"

"That's great! Where did you go to school?"

"Well, don't let anyone fool you. Some would have you believe that you have to go to a prestigious university to have any credentials in this business, but I obtained all my schooling and certifications at my local community college, AND they helped me with job placement!"

Who'd date an acting hooker? I mean I could look past it it if it was in she wasn't doing it anymore, but if she was currently in the industry no I don't think so.

Why not? You know, hos need lovin' too!:blaugh:

Absolutely. It'd be much better to regulate and keep women safe(r) from abuse.

Sure it should be legal. It is in Germany and it works just fine.

I'm for it but don't see it happening here anytime soon.

In a perfect world yes .In this one no ,all it would do is give the self righteous proffessional virgins and the feminazis a reason for their existence .Two minutes into legalization and you would have a major crusade on your hands which would probably make scoring with a pro even more of a hassle.

Weird, didn't happen in Germany. 🙂 Are people really that much different in the US?

Yes, it should be legalized. If it ever is, the economy would probably be permanently stabilized, the police could get back to working on serious crimes instead of busting lonely and/or horny men/women, and the lonely and/or horny men/women of society will be much happier, and therefore much more productive, members of society! With the right regulations, it would prove to be a productive industry. And if you need to be further convinced, just look to Alchemy's last post and read the words of the late great George Carlin!

I remember hearing about the major campaign they waged against Hugh Hefner a few decades ago, and to no avail. Hell, it probably helped him advertise! No doubt that if they tried it here, it would have the same affect.

Yes. Legalizing it would make life less dangerous for sex workers, eliminate pimps, probably reduce STDs (cause prostitutes health would be monitored), give an outlet to those who can't get sex, create jobs for large numbers of people and reduce the burden on prisons.

I would like to thank these two gentleman on a fine post.

When it comes to matters of legalization... When you make something illegal, it creates a black market. And, producers in a black market can't manage shit!

Moral regulation is a waste of time, and only creates more chaos... Civilization reduced too snivelization!

Agreed.

What truly amazes me is that this is a topic of discussion in the 21st century in America! It really shows how far behind the times we are; they don't call prostitution the world's oldest profession for nothing........

You are so right. We'd have all been flogged or stoned, or maybe even tarred and feathered, in the past for speaking of such things! Isn't progress a grand thing?

Don't approve of stoning.....but the flogging.....depending on circumstances could prove interesting......:blush2: :dom:

We'll achieve progress when people see prostitution as it really is; if someone wants to pay to get theirs off, that's their business. :jester:
