Regardless of WHO it was centered around, it was still nice to see a little bit of funny instead of hostility.
It's as if some nuclear warfare just happened instead of a spoof.

Ugh, I say we drop it. I understand people didn't find it funny.. Honestly I didn't. But, oh well.. It's old.. lets stop poking at it once it dies down, just to see the rise that comes from it. Look, if some people didn't find it funny, that's fine. It's clearly a matter of taste. I thought it was funny and timely, and a lot of creative energy went into making it happen. But if it's not your cup of tea, I totally respect that. And happily, it's long over.
And also I want to point out before I start raving that this was not even remotely controversial. When your TV works fine, you don't write to Sony and say "hey thanks for my TV working for the thousandth day in a row." But when it breaks, you complain. A few people are complaining about what happened, while hundreds and thousands are happily enjoying the TMF as they always have, and they clearly were completely fine with what took place, or they'd have been heard from like you cranks.
The bottom line to me is that this was a prank that lasted for two hours. The bitching has gone on 30 times as long. Grow the fuck up. Seriously. At first I was a little sympathetic to people who felt put out by having the TMF somewhat inaccessible for a few hours. But the whining about inner circles is getting truly pathetic.
And this bitching about being excluded is pure and simply bullshit. Nobody is excluding anyone from anything. All are welcome to join in the fun. And if you don't find it fun... fine, say so and fucking move on with your life.
Nobody is keeping anybody out of any groups. You want to participate? Go right ahead and participate. You want to be part of a group? Jump in! Who the hell is stopping you other than yourself?
The people who feel like they aren't able to do that are talking about their own issues. If you find that YOU don't know how to join in the crowd, that is not the fault of the crowd.
And spare me the "oh, this if Jeff's forum so he can shit on us if he wants to." I've never run the TMF that way, and some of the people bitching about that should fucking well know it from their own personal experiences with me. I don't ban people and I don't kick them off the forum because they disagree with me or harass me or out of personality conflicts, and I don't cram my point of view down people's throats.
That said, I do have a point of view and a right to express it here just like anybody else. A lot of times I bite my tongue because I don't like to be criticized for being a bully, but fuck that: I'm not a bully, and I'm not cracking the whip, I'm expressing my own personal annoyance at what I think is a bunch of immature whiny bullshit.

^ well said, ive been gone 2 days(admittadly not that long but still) and i cant belive this issue isnt dead and buried, in fact i cant blelive it had a heart beat to start with.
it was very funny and entertaining, it lasted hardly any time at all and directly effected nothing as it was put right back to normal after, a little bit like the times the site is down for maintainence or something,
chillllll people, this is a fun place to be and this is just another fun thing that happened once, and itl happen again and i cant wait, for those of you who are upset you missed it, better luck next time 🙂 theres never a time when everyoens online so we cant all see everything 🙂

In my brief foray into posting on these forums, I have noticed this increased trend towards fragmenting the user base through have's and have not's. But these things manifest usually through either self creation.
Which isn't to say that there aren't clique issues here. Obviously there are for enough people to feel this great dying need to post about it. And those that are on the outside looking in who are constantly back pocket with those populars are just stragglers. I don't know if it was fun or not. I personally don't care. I wasn't here for it, and the world didn't end when I signed on in the morning, or today, or any other time.
People on this forum need to grow up and become real goddamn people before anything else. When I hear from OTHERS that I am talking mess about people from over a year ago, I know that there problems with the community. There is so much drama mining going on that it is like the damn Gold Rush.
That doesn't mean that everyone gets to be friends with the popular people. If you are like me...a majority of the user base here actually scares you because of how they cannot control themselves. Whenever I talk to a female on these forums, I just imagine the insane babble that's flooded Annie's or Crystals...OR ANYONE WHO HAS EVER POSTED A PICTURE HERE'S...pm box. Yeah...from the small sampling from someone like PurrBast, the people here are fucked in the head.

Oh, right.
Those that bitch about the sort of things going on only fuel the fires. Don't like the people? Block them. Or don't respond to them. Or just...use common sense. That is a damn dying art now a days.
And that isn't to say I am an apologist for those people mentioned. Sometimes, their actions speak more towards people trying too hard to wear a hat that truly doesn't fit. I do the same. But I'm going to do my thing. They will do theirs. Lives will not end. And I will continue to not really care all that much, because unlike it seems a lot of people are doing, I'm more into meeting the good people in this community than building up the goddamn walls to separate the people.
Oh...and another thing. This isn't free to all. I believe those people pay the insane server bills to keep a place like this going. So, reality is, if they wanted to close this place down tomorrow and use the domain to sell you antibiotics, you really have no place to demand content. Their webspace is their webspace. Now, if you pay in, that's different. But I rarely see anyone shelling out the green to help support the growing post numbers, the download bandwidth, and all that junk.

I resigned myself a while ago. I don't have any power over how things are operated, and people will form whatever circles they like, so why should I get hyped over it?
When it's been explained before what boundaries are here, I've listened. I think I reiterated them well in my first post on this thread. I would think making clear what those boundaries are so people don't overstep themselves and get all testy thinking their vociferousness is going to change something would be helpful not only to Leadership having an unconnected surrogate strongly expounding this message (so they don't have to), but to the membership having it very clearly stated to them so they don't get their asses handed to them by Mods/Admins later by misstepping. Maybe save everyone a little trouble.
The substance of what I said was no different than what has been stated clearly in the past by Mods and Admins over dealings with many folks: This Forum does not belong to anyone but Jeff. You shouldn't expect this place to change for you. You are free to go if you are unhappy. There are other places to go.
I added what should be common sense: Follow the path that will get you the reward you seek. If history's revealed a path to the reward you like, go for it. If not, find your own.
Now, I'm guessing that someone got angry at that because of tone or mood. I'll admit, I wasn't feeling particularly sunshine-y at that moment, and when I'm like that, I'm less apt to say things in a sunshine-y way. If you're going to admonish or censor for tone and mood, that's cool. It's your Forum. But you might want to post that somewhere so folks know.

I echoed BrightEyes' assessment which recalled a significant point of mine. Didn't seem to be a problem.
I saw where CrystalLight seemed to be annoyed at the ongoing griping, and so I tried to approach both her and someone who was giving her an unfair share of responsibility rationally and calmly to put this baby to bed. You might notice that the poster -- a gentleman -- went back and edited his post accordingly, removing the suggestion of her responsibility. I was hoping at that point things were going to die down.
But if the person I'm trying to help turns around and tells me I'm wrong, I throw up my hands. If they want it to devolve into fighting and shun my attempt to calm things down, so be it. I can't stop 'em. No power. So let it be a fight.
I will help anyone go in whatever direction they want to go. If they make clear a direction, I'll give them solid assistance. I think some people need to make decisions about what they want. When they do, or make clear their wants, I'll support them however I can. And Jeff, that goes for you as well. I'll support you wherever you want to take this Forum.

The person Cap is referring to that edited his post was me. I'd been given the impression that Crystal, herself, had involvement. I can admit when I'm wrong, and was in that case. I may run my mouth over a lot of things, but to clarify, I don't want to fight. I suppose I was looking for honest two-way discussion which a compromise could be reached. Both sides stubbornly stuck to their guns without trying to see the other side for a good while, and I thought that was short-sighted. I believe Xionking's post actually opens the door for the honesty I speak of, as Mistress Aura so eloquently put it. Hopefully it will all turn out for the best.

I'm more of a "behind the scenes" sort of mod....
I shoot for quiet and efficient.
But I do exist and have for a very long time....heck, I'm even older than Venray, difficult as that may be to conceive. I still remember that argument we had over naming dirt...he wanted to call it fizzbin or some such nonsense.

Drew's father died from a heart disease. I think this is what triggered his temporary psychosis. On some level he must have suspected that his father's time was up. After he died, it stopped altogether.
