So..who is excited for NEST?!

I would be excited about the NEST but I can't go. I only live about an hour and half drive from philadelphia, but that is a bad weekend for me every year. My work is just to busy that weekend getting ready for the summer. I tried many times in the past to get the days and times changed every once in a while(Not every year just now again), so that others who can't go this time of year can go another time of year. But they never seem to care about my opinion.

But I'm not looking to get into a battle with anyone, I don't feel that people should be insulting me. I wanted to post opinion on this thread, and others started replying to that opinion so I posted my thoughts and opinions on the replies. If people get upset, all I can say I'm sorry, but I can't help that nor can I help the way I feel about things. But I don't insult anyone. The whole point of a forum is a place for people to share opinions and thoughts.

A few years ago I tried to see if the NEST people would work with me and I shared my opinion here at the forum and many people seemed upset with me. After telling everyone that I think there was a misunderstanding more people kept getting upset. So I've been keeping things quiet about the NEST and made my peace with the fact I can't go and tried to put it behind me. Until I saw this thread. I don't want to upset anyone here. It's not about money/cost I simply can't make it. Even if I told make place of work 5 years ago that I would need off this weekend in 2011, I can't go there just to much that needs to get done and get ready for the summer business. The only day I can really go is Monday, but there doesn't seem to be much going on that day. That's one of the many things I tried to get them to change is make a 4 day event Fri.-Mon. have stuff all 4 days. the only thing really going on Monday is a goodbye breakfast. So to answer your question BellaRisa "Are you truly unable to schedule even one evening off to drive up and back? With a year's notice?"

There are many NESTers people getting in on Thursday and there are people everywhere on Friday. I'd imagine one could also meet people for dinner Sunday evening and stay over for breakfast Monday morning. But if your place of business is truly so swamped that you cannot spare a few hours at all between that Thursday and that Tuesday, with no one capable of taking your place for 36 hrs or so, you have my condolences. Now having said that, if you sincerely don't want people to be miffed by your posts on this subject you'll have to stop suggesting that the NEST organizers don't seem to care about your opinion, that's what sets folks off

I don't think there's any polling going on. This weekend was very specifically chosen because its late enough in the year that the weather is getting warmer, but falls before kids start getting out of school for the summer. There's not a lot of wiggle room and the vast vast majority really like this date and that it is consistent every year. I am sorry it doesn't work for you and hopefully that will change, but the date is the date.

*wonders if @ Kareoke last year's singing of Hanson by the girls will evolve into something different... Spice Girls? Aqua? Right Said Fred? (I'm Too Sexy for my shirt 😛 )

Yay! One week left and then time for party 🙂 . I´ll arrive thursday at around 8:00pm.
I´m lookin forward to meet some TMF friends for the first time in person. And I hope to make new friends as well.
I´m really excited - all in apositive way. Nerveaus only a little because it is my first trip into the USA 🙂
I´m so happy and a little proud too as I guess I´m the first German who ever attended NEST Yay!

Thank you for your condolences. That is nice of you. I agree I need to stop suggesting that the NEST organizers don't seem to care about your opinion. Maybe what I should do is talk to them about next year or up coming years see if there is something we can come up with. Also I would love to come up Monday morning and spend the day and go home either Tuesday morning or Monday night but I would think everyone is leaving noon Monday. Again thank you, I like talking to you, you seem to be a understanding person.
