Most of the larger buildings that seem out of place are casinos weighing more than a hundred tons that floated on the storm surge across a 6 lane highway and landed hundred of feet from the starting point. These are not "clean up" photos. These images are of things where Mother Nature planted them. Pre-bulldozer.

Sweet Jesus...

...it's a miracle that the death toll isn't in the tens of thousands, much less what it is. It looks like an H-bomb went off... cars and boats tossed around like children's toys, entire BUILDINGS picked up and tossed whole, even the freakin' ROADS torn up...

The clean-up alone, much less the reconstruction, is going to take a decade. And imagine how much easier it'd would've been to have dealt with afterwards, if King George II wasn't pissing away billions (remember that surplus we had left over from the Clinton Administration?) on getting our servicemen and women killed far from home.

Good God. Let's hope the American spirit shines as bright after this as it did after 9/11.

Hi Dan,

In spite of all of this, I'm just pleased as punch to have access to the behind the scenes FEMA computer at the shelter I'm working! LOL Let's me toss a little note to the outside world now and again.

I remember you once told me that you had been at Keesler Air Force Base. It was nearly detroyed. 90% of it was dealt a blow. They esitmate a half a billion ,...that's right $5000,000,000. dollars to repair the base.

For those unfamiliar with it...think about the movie Biloxi Blues. That's the AF base I'm talking about.

Today is good. We received 5 18 wheelers full of food and bedding at the shelter! IT's going quickly, but it's WONDERFUL!
