I really want to get my nipples pierced but the only thing is I hear you lose a lot of feeling when you get them pierced, because my ex bf had them done and he lost feeling in one and barely had a lot of feeling in the other and I would prefer if that didn't happen =/ But I dunno because I have also heard other things soo..does anyone have their's pierced? or just know anything about this! Thanks thanks thanks.

By the way I saw Lost Souls the other day, it was so good ! =]

I think with many piercings on sensitive areas like nipples and genital piercings, there is a high risk of losing sensation. I think it's like upwards of 50% or something.

I used to want to get my nipples pierced SO bad - I was just too scared to do it - THANK GOD. A friend of mine who got her nipples pierced told me a total HORROR story about what happened to her. I can't remember the details, probably because we were all trashed at the time we were having this conversation, but all I remember is it involved infection, alot of pus, gross smelling stuff coming out of her nipples, and alot of pain...and it totally convinced me to NEVER get them done.

Granted, I have my tongue pierced and have never had a problem, and I've heard horror stories about that, too. Just make sure that you get ALL the information about potential infections and complications before you do it.

i dont have mine done but always wanted 2 get them done i have lots on my face tho and they made me loose feeling in my brain now it aint working lol if u do get them done make sure the shop is clean look around ask questions just look 4 a repable shop and make sure if ya do it keep em clean n take care

get on nipple pierced, that way youl definatly a least have one working one left 😛

And then, if it doesnt lose sensitivity, it wont be such a risk to get the other done.

I want a nipple piercing too....But il be honest, Im actually scared of the pain.

That was always what stopped me. I always said I'd have to be drunk to get it done.

I find that VERY hard to believe - I would think it's a person-by-person thing, depending on the sensitivity of your nipples in general.

nah its a pretty consistant rule, its to do with the part of the nipple that gets pierced, women have it further forward and men have to have it further back into the areola which is a much more painful place in general, its cause we have smaller nipples.

When I point out my worry for the pain its gonna cause me if I do it, women always laugh and tell me how its doesnt really hurt that much, and im always like "but its different for you!!" they dont believe me but its totally true, course theres gonna be acceptions, but its VERY accurate in most cases.

For men its one of the most painful piercings you can get, far worse than most genital piercings, For woman its usually a pretty easy one.

Oh yeah...well I can see how that might make a difference. STILL - I'm not willing to put myself through that. Ugh...this whole thread is making my nipples hurt.

same here, its funny cause I was actually texting my tattooist about it earlier on, I want it done SO badly but I watched my (much more hardcore) brother get his done and he usually doent even flinch with a piercing and ive never seen him in so much pain, and I hate getting even the simplist piercing, Not good with pain AT ALL.

Get drunk first. I'll do just about anything when I'm drunk LOL Maybe it'll work for ya.

Hm that is pretty darn clever, getting one done to see what happens, I just have horrible ocd and would need to get the other which is why I felt the need to get both sides of my nose pierced ahh. But I suppose I'll just see what happens with the first one and hopefullyeverythingwillbefineanddandy so I can get the other one =]! The pain is the least of my worries, I enjoy being pierced its a good kind of pain..yea haha I miss gauging my ears, it was always the best feeling when you finally cram the next sized gauge into your ear...I dunno if anyone else feels that way but yea! Oh and I have heard it wasn't that bad for girls anyway I guess it always depends on the person though and how they deal with pain..like your bellybutton for example everyone told me IT HURT SO BAD but I barely felt a thing.

Not to put a damper on the enthusiasm and interest in exploration, but from my own experiences:

1.) Unless the U.S. laws are changing, most piercing/tat places won't do anything if you tell them you took any pre-meds or they can smell you've been drinking. Opens them up to all kinds of lawsuits if they do, because even the release form is null if it's signed while you're under the influence and you come back at them with "buyer's remorse" b/c of what you inked or poked. Again, don't know if that's changed now since I had anything done but it would suck to get yourself prepped and have them pull the plug on the operation at the last second.

2.) As long as you don't mind the pain, you'll be okay, because yah. It hurts. In fact, you'll have quite awhile afterward to continue experiencing it. 😉 😀 Doesn't kill any sensitivity that I ever noticed (I have a lot of that), but for about two weeks afterward, I felt like I had a couple of very angry squirrels clamped on really, really tight. :munch: Wearing a very tight sports bra helped some, but forget about sleeping on the stomach and God forbid you accidentally clip the edge of something when you walk past it. Or the pet jumps up on you--talk about the automatic 30-meter pet kick! And then there's the "dried-bodily-fluid-on-the-ring/bar" phenomenon, which is a nifty way to get an unexpected yet solid, hearty scream out of yourself...when you clean the piercings, you wash and betadine them, then rotate the rings back and forth through the piercings. If there is so much as a speck of dried anything on it, it literally feels like you're running broken glass through the opening and voila'! Instant high-C soprano!

3.) Really shouldn't touch (except for cleaning) for the months it takes to fully heal, and absolutely NO oral attention from partners until then due to risk of infection. Don't know how vital that is for you, but it's something to consider if you don't want to do without.

All in all, I found it to be a whole lotta pain for just a little bit of pretty that not many people would really see. It does make a statement and I agree, both or none. In mainstream these days, having just one done looks like the person wussed out halfway rather than making a statement--or they lost a bet or something. LOL

Good luck with it--and be careful!

I love nipple pain and torture, so I'd love to get mine pierced.
The only thing that's holding me back is I'd like to have a baby
someday, and I don't want to not be able to nurse if I choose
to.

Breast Feeding
If you plan to have a child and breastfeed in the future, you may wonder if you should get your nipples pierced at all. I've had people tell me they've heard all kinds of crazy rumors about breastfeeding with pierced nipples, but you only need to concern yourself with the facts. The facts are that in most cases, pierced nipples do not cause a problem when breastfeeding; in fact, some have found that it actually increases their milk flow (flow, not production), making it easier to nurse. Some nursing mothers say they even keep the jewelry in (including during feedings), although I personally do not recommend this. You need to carefully consider what goes into your child's mouth at all times, and a piercing can be a breeding ground for bacteria. It's much easier to keep it clean without the jewelry in place.

If you remove the jewelry permanently while you are nursing, the hole may very well close up and then you would need to repierce your nipple when you are ready. If you remove the jewelry only for feeding sessions, it shouldn't be a problem replacing it after the feeding is over. But constant removal and replacement of the jewelry can be annoying or even cause the piercing to become sore. Since breastfeeding can already cause sore nipples, you really won't want to cause any additional aggravation.

The decision is ultimately yours. You have to decide whether you want the piercing enough now, even if you may lose it later. Once you have a child, you will also have to decide if you are going to keep the jewelry in or remove it. Whatever decisions you make, it should be in the best interest of any future or present child. Nurturing your child through breastfeeding is one of the most important things you can do during the beginning of their life. Making sure that everything that enters their mouths and bodies during that time is clean and safe is also your responsibility.

So, unless you have a medical reason, getting your nipples pierced now and breastfeeding somewhere down the line should cause no complications. However, if you are currently pregnant or nursing, you will not be able to get any piercings until 6 weeks after the baby has been weaned.
