"Slow"... Har har! It is to laugh!... this, from someone who's predicted the course of the story as accurately as if he'd written it himself! Yes indeed, when the storm hits, disaster will rain within as well as from without! For dramatics' sake, the space station had better not have any luck (not until the final curtain, at least!)

Yeah, that is a little oblique, isn't it! The idea was that he's supposed to be considering the Gorgonhelm as an object of study, but with a tinge of almost religious awe. Next time I want complex emoting, I'll cast a guy with two eyes and a non-retractable mouth! 😛

Out of Episode 13 after a long stay, and on to the action in 14! And what action it is. Swarms of deadly doom machines, cannons on that command ship that look akin to the frag cannons of a Peacekeeper Command Carrier! But, will they draw in Jones' range and, if they do, will it make a difference? We may soon find out.

That's a canny observation, HDS! As originally conceived, Spectacles of Doom was intended to be the first story in a linked, 3-part mega-story (similar in structure to LOTR... I'd actually completed the first chapter of part 2, Day of the Devastator... considering how far "Spectacles" had come along, it's no loss that this saga never proceeded any further). The third installment would indeed have seen the resurrection of Mortus Rex. However, Tin-Tin-Qual had made provisions for such an eventuality... if you check the first part of Chapter 1, scene 4 of this story (post 22, page 2), you'll see that hints were already in place...

Heh heh! Thanks Janus! Yeah, I'd have my escape flight scheduled too! But the space staion crew is loyal; they'll stick to their posts (we'll see where their dedication gets 'em!)

You won't have to wait too patiently for updated action... a series of rather short scenes will round out this chapter and continue into the next. After that... invasion!

The Death Star hasn't got anything on that 'helm. Reminds me a slight bit of the old "Sword of Omens" from Thundercats, what with Jones being able to use an ability similar to the sword's "Sight beyond Sight." And, of course, the helm proves its allegiance to its namesake monster, what with leaving behind lifeless flotsam. Smashing!

Wow! What an accessment! Thank you, HDS! I wasn't familiar with the ThunderCats information (I always find your encyclopedic knowledge and ability to make cross-cultural leaps rather humbling) and was compelled to read up a bit (once again, Wikipedia to the rescue... a gratifyingly detailed examination!) I'm most relieved that the Gorgonhelm's ability to see into structures came across clearly; I feared that this aspect of the weapon might prove vague, and such undertanding is necessary to explain how Jones can "select" vicitms as opposed to indescriminately blasting everything within his field of view. Such clarity will become increasingly important as the siege of the X-Minus-Zero approaches.
