Speaking as an experienced woodworker, I do not believe that a simple set of stocks is something I would caution a novice about trying at home. You just need a good, clear drawing, some notion of assembly sequence,.... and of course the tools. Actually, you could get by with just a decent sabre (reciprocating) saw and a cordless drill/screwdriver (those are everywhere these days,... my landlady has one, for God's sake) Anyway, the tools could be borrowed, I'm sure. A few 2x6's and misc. lumber, some specialty hinges & hardware, glue, stain, polyurethane, sandpaper, etc, etc........ the economy model could be produced for under fifty bucks. Of electronic timers I know nothing, however.
