Ok, I have this really weird thing that happens to me every so often, and I wanted to know if it happens to anyone else. Sometimes, if I'm like, half asleep, or on the verge of falling totally asleep, I'll actually be dreaming. Depending on whats in the dream... This is hard to explain. Ok. I'll just put it bluntly.

I was in bed, on the verge of falling asleep a minute ago. I was still ever so slightly awake, like I could tell I wasn't fully asleep. I was having this strange dream about memorial day and the DaVinci code (dont ask). Well, the pastor in the church ran to his computer, and when he typed "davinci code, memorial day" into google, the screen flashed 666 and the entire church exploded.

Now, the dream isn't what scared me, because I've been talking with people about that movie "the omen", memorial day and the davinci code today, so it was on my mind. Thats probably why I had the dream. What scares me, is what happened when the church "exploded"... My eyes slightly opened, but it still felt like I was almost asleep... and I SWEAR I was hearing this HUGE explosion.. like I could actually hear the church exploding, my walls echoing the explosion.. but I was still almost asleep, but my eyes were kinda open, and I could see around my room. I thought an actuall bomb had went off close to my house. It scared the shit outta me! It was like it was actually happening, right outside my house... I could hear it and feel the vibrations as if it were real...

This has happened to me before... with other dreams. I don't know what causes it, perhaps my brain/mind still carries on with the effects of the dream, even though I'm not 100 percent asleep?

Dreams are friggin' weird...

Something similar has happened to me as well. The mind has incredible power over the body. Several times, I've woken from a dream, knowing somewhere in my head it was a dream, but still convinced in another part of my brain that it was real. After a few minutes, reality sets in and I'm fully aware of where I am and what happened. But yeah, dreams are friggin' weird.

i've had those sort of dreams before.. but the dreams i hate most are when you think you have woken up from a dream, only for it to be still a dream. and not realizing it until something really strange happens in the dream and then i know it's a dream and when i finally wake up i'm so relieved..

What you descibe is like a form of sleep walking...........even though you don't get out of bed in your case which makes this mild..........you are inbetween conscienceness and subconscienceness which can confuse you into believing things are happening around you that are not real! Was there anything on the news or did you see anything that indicated there had been an explosion near you?
I have heard of frightening tales of people when about to fall asleep claim they're being strangled by an ugly old lady and are unable to move!

But when you dream, are you a 'lee dreaming she's a 'ler, or a 'ler dreaming she's a 'lee? Or did I just blow your mind?

I didn't see anything about an explosion near me... I can't really explain why an explosion would have been in my subconscience... I guess it was just one of those strange instances... It was so scary though... It seemed so real that I nearly ran for cover, and considered checking the news, and waking up my roomates.

I just hope it doesn't happen again tonight!

Just when you thought it was safe to get back into bed!

Ha ha ha ha!

I love dreams...always have.

1.....2.....

OK, time to let my freak flag fly a bit.....I have a sneaking suspicion that dreams are more than we think. Perhaps gateways to....somewhere else? Sometime else?

Ok, back to my yoga and incense now.

In Aborginal Culture I believe dreams are considered to be a real seperate alternate dimension to our world. The movie called "The Last Wave" kinda of touched on this. An excellent Sci Fi movie by the way. 😀

By the way the brain can play some mighty freaky tricks on you. Dreams are often one aspect of this. The darn thing really should come with an owners manual. 😀

I think it was whatever "switch" we have in our heads that tells your brain your having a dream or not having a dream was stuck. If you think about jumping rope in your dream your body isn't actually jumping rope in your bedroom.

It's like if you have a dream where you fall and you wake up and you're legs jerk. The switch was stuck.

Thats an interesting theory... alternate universes... hmmm... :xpeepsofa

I will break the "new age wave" and throw my guess:
there was a sudden sharp noise while you were dreaming (like a car door slamming, or an airplane passing, or a knock on the wall/ceiling if you are in an apartment.
Since you were not completely asleep your mind still reacts to external stimuli and included - and amplified - that noise in your dream.
The noise and the nature of your dream were - taken together - disturbing enough to wake you up more, maybe just making your eyes open but not to jump on your bed and that interrupted the dream, transposing for few moments the perception on the "real" word and make you "hear" that sound.

Something very similar happened to me several times with a recurring bad dream/nightmare: I actually start screaming (for real) and I can hear my scream in the dream. It happened so many times that I started to tell myself in the dream that if I am able to wake myself up and scream louder the nightmare will end...

Creepy as it can sound, I guess the mindtricks are one of the most powerful things in the world.
