I actually watch the whole game this time and it was an exciting finish, I got a bit more out of it this time around, but just one or two things made me laugh.

The commentators at one stage expressed their concern for how "tired" the players must be feeling "deep in to the fourth quarter". Excuse me!!....tired? how can they possibly get tired ? they run for about five seconds every five minutes, the game is divided in to four parts and the half time show lasts at least half an hour.....how can they get tired?

The "Field goal unit"...is this the softest touch in world sport?

The line backers....they look like they do most of their training at KFC.

The season is now over and it starts again when?.......it starts when??....the end of bloody August!!! seven months off....no wonder those line backers are so bloody fat!

I love this "time out" scam....if you are getting your ass kicked or feel your side needs a rest, you can just stop the game!

I enjoyed the show anyway.

Up the Rams!

Those players expel a lot of energy when on the field. They may not be on the field all of the time but there bodies are going full throttle when they are.If you add up all of those bursts of energy throughout the course of a whole game that is enough to wear down anybody.

Kitty isn't sure what you are blabbing about, however Kitty adored number seventy two for the Patriots. Kitty melts over muscles and big guys. :cat:

Oh please!!! have you guys ever seen a game of rugby union? our nearest equivalent in the UK? those guys go "full throttle" for 80 minutes, with a ten minute break in the middle.

Also they have enough grey matter to be able to cope with performing more than one single task unlike NFL players. They all have to block, they all have to be able to act as "wide receivers" they are all expected to get "touch downs" they all have to be able to act as a "quarter back".

And on top of that.........(you all knew this was coming!)....they dont wear body armour!

Untill next year.

Super Bowl: watched by 97+ Million people

Rugby: NOBODY CARES!

I think what "Storm" means is Americans dont care, not quite the same as "nobody" I fear.

How many people watch the world "soccer" cup final then?.....248 million.

Which proves,i guess that 248 million people have nothing better to do.😛

If American's don't care then it doesn't really matter. You're talking about two different things anyway. The NFL is an American league. The World Cup is a world event. No other country's league could compare to the NFL. The NFL makes billions of dollars. The Dallas Cowboys, America's Team, are the highest valued sports franchise in the world, valued at approximately $1.5 billion. It doesn't really matter if the world watches.

"The World Cup is a world event" yes very true and the world takes part in it, even the US.

So what is "The World Series" all about?

Beats me Red ol chum. A bunch of roided up pansies hitting a little ball with a stick. Reminds me of some other nancy-boy game named "cricket".

But I digress...........

I don't care too much about baseball. You'll have to have someone else answer that one.

The explanation is that when the term "World's Championship Series" was first used in the 1880s, baseball at a highly-skilled level was almost exclusively confined to North America, especially the United States. Thus it was understood that the winner of the major league championship was the best baseball team in the world. The title of this event was soon shortened to "World's Series" and later to "World Series".

Americans like sports that are based on strength, speed, skill, precision and accurracy.

Europeans like sports that are based on cardio. Rugby and soccer both involve average looking guys running around for long periods of time. You guys can run and jog better than anybody!

NFL players are stronger, faster or both than rugby or soccer players. NBA players are taller and can jump higher, and they are probably stronger and faster too.

Also, the World Cup is racist and the fans kill each other during or after the games.

The last time I watched it the German team thought they were badasses because a couple guys on their team were 6 foot to 6 foot 4 with no muscle mass.

That's nothing in American sports.

"Americans like sports that are based on strength, speed, skill, precision and accurracy."....Mmmm, sounds like a description of most sports, played by most people, in most countries, most of the time. Nothing peculiarly "Amercian" about any of it.

Clearly you have never seen a game of rugby or the type of atheletes involved. Compare the body type and size of Johnny Wilkinson to Andrew Sheridan. RFU accommodates a broad range of physical types, gladly none of them do their training at doughnut franchises, unlike NFL linebackers.

I agree about racisim though, its an abomination and should be stamped out. Thank god the US has never suffered from it or had any trace of it in its glorious history.

Years and years ago. You never see blatant racism here anymore. You have entire stadiums chanting racist things in Europe. They're 100 years behind the U.S. when it comes to racism in sports. The U.S. was able to learn and things have changed drastically, in more areas than sports.

Red - NFL linebackers aren't fat. Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis aren't fat. Maybe you are thinking of O and D linemen, but they aren't fat either, they're just really big. There is a lot of muscle on those big guys. Fat guys that weigh the same amount as O and D linemen can't bench what the NFL guys bench.

yeah....well they all look big, covered in plastic body armour. How do you think they would get on in a game with out all the talent boosting equipment?

A game of RFU?....no chance....they would be crying for mommy after the a few minutes!

yeah....well they all look big,

Red my friend they dont just look big, they are big.I'm 6'3" and 280 pounds and i would be considered an average to small NFL lineman. The speed and violence of the NFL cannot be seen on the telly. The helments, pads etc are worn because the human body could not absorb the punishment otherwise, and even at that many former players are crippled for life in their 30's and 40's.I have met and talked to quite a few former NFL players and physically they are aged far beyond their years due to the pounding they take.

ok so...thats a good thing then is it? I dont think so. Take all the crap off, get the line backers out of "Crispy Kreams" and put them in game of RFU.

They would not last five minutes, any of them.

There are many NFL players that would do well in Rugby, in fact a few of them played Rugby in High School, and some in college. Mostly defensive players.
The games of football and rugby where they started out with similar rules have less in common now then ever before. There are rarely any players in the NFL that go both ways, where in rugby they do. Football is 60 minutes broken up into 15 minute quarters and breathers in between. Rugby is 80 minutes, no breaks. Now rugby is not played as fast as the NFL, because after running for 40 minutes you can not work up that same speed the entire game, where football people play like they are being shot out of a cannon. The hits are explosive, and more damaging. Most rugby tackles are gang tackles, one guy grabs and holds on while the other guys converge and all drag him down.
The reason for equipment on football players is simple...protection...an to be honest, I dont know if Rugby players could last at their own game if they had to wear an additonal 20 to 30 lbs of equipment.
I respect both sports and see them differently.

They would not last five minutes, any of them.
Someone like Tom Brady or Payton Manning....no they wouldn't.
Someone like Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, or Mario Williams would do pretty well.

Rob

You make some good points Robace....as you always do my friend, but I am still not convinced. Its easy to look big and act tough, covered in body armour and a helmet....much harder without.

True wearing the armor makes them play and look tougher, but all in all I prefer that style. Having teeth when your 30 is still important in this country Red Indian. :jester::yowzer:

I kid only because I care Red Indian.

TALLY HO, PIP PIP and all that.
