Anyone else try out this game yet?

I thought it was gonna be great and free-roaming, like I read in a game magazine months ago...but damn, this game is almost worse than "Ultimate Spider-Man" (and I HATED that game).

Sure, you have access to Supe's powers, even more than in the "Justice League Heroes" game, but not right away. Nope, you have to go thru the tutorial and learn each power one at a time....wether you want to, or not(unlike "Spider-Man 2" , where you could SKIP the tutorial).

And how super IS Superman in the game? Well, he's faster than a speeding bullet sometimes...but try fighting the second opponent in the Warworld level(which is the second tutorial level). You have to throw objects when your opponent grows in size (since he seems invulnerable to direct attacks during that time)...but the big blue boyscout takes so long picking up things, the opponent knocks him on his Superass a zillion times.

Also, from what I've read, you can't choose which missions to do , and free-roaming is hard..you have to go slow (or stay way up above the city) to avoid the things that trigger missions.

And the claim the developers made about their being ...what was it....more than 20 yrs of Superman's history in the game? Yeah, lets see....I think I read there were maybe..four or five of his villans in the game ....

As for things to do in your "free time" ...there's....fighting robots, fighting dragons....um......more fighting robots.....ah....more fighting dragons, and ...er.....even MORE robots to fight. ...Oh yeah, and lost cats to find.

No people looking up in the sky wondering if you're a bird or plane while trying to save a plane...no going faster than a speeding locomotive to STOP a speeding locomotive..you know, those things Superman usually does ever once in awhile in the comics/cartoons.

If it weren't for flying around Metropolis, I'd be 100% Super-disappointed with this game. Maybe the game will be slightly more fun after (or IF ) I can complete the War World level.

If you want a free-roaming superhero game, stick to Spider-Man 2 (which actually HAS stuff to do outside of missions). If you want to play Superman, try Justice League Heroes.

However, if you're a hard-core Superman fan, this you might be able to stand this game. Otherwise, stay up, up, and away from it.

I generally dislike games based on large franchises or movies as they tend to be abyssmal 90% of the time.

If you're looking for some good games, I suggest rifling through the sleeper hits and indie games of yesteryear. Psi Ops is a great game that was made a few years back and almost nobody has heard of it.

Yeah, if they wouldn't rush them to be released on the same day/week as the movie (or DVD release of the movie), then they'd probably be alot better.

Oh well, if they make a Spider-Man 3 game that's like SM2 (but better), then that'll rock.

......now when the hell are we gonna get a Power Ranger game in the same style as either Freedom Force or X-Men: Legends? lol (now THERE'S a game where you could have some fun destroying stuff. lol)

I've always been leery of a "Superman" based game, because of the vast number of powers he has, and the probable difficulty of a game. But....I rented it from Blockbuster. The beginning tutorial of how to use the powers made it seem pretty simple to understand, and I was ready to "stop the meteor shower approaching Metropolis". Then.....

Fifty FREAKIN' meteors start dropping out of the sky!!!! Sorry dude....how about something a bit simpler, so you can at least get used to all the friggin' controls!

Nope....done....see ya later Supes.

I already knew before the game came out that it would be rubbish all games based on movies usually are the exception being most Notably, Goldeneye for the N64 which i owned and was the best game on that console...

Ironically, my favorite Superman game is the old one for the Atari 2600.

I was sifting through reviews about this game before its release. I didn't see single positive one. Well, there were a few fans that didn't mind it, but on the whole, if Iwere inclined to play it, I feel that I'd take a pass.

I find the metor shower mission pretty easy once you're able to access Super Speed. I would've rather done another tutorial mission like that instead of going to War World. That level should've maybe been saved for the middle or end of the game.

I agree completely. It just felt like I was thrown into the deep end of the pool.

Speaking of throwing things, I gotta admit, it IS fun to use Super Breath to blow Metallo out of Metropolis almost all the way to the other side of the lake(not to mention it gives you time to destroy some robots and rescue a few citizens to restore some of the city's health bar ). Too bad you can't use Ice Breath to freeze a column of water and smack Metallo around when he's giant-sized --like the developers claimed we'd be able to do. That would've been a bit more fun than throwing helicopters at him. (I would use the Daily Planet globe, but I don't think Perry would like that very much. :jester: )
