You are impressed??? They have a 5 1/2 game lead on the White Sox. And the White Sox must play Boston in Fenway, Los Angeles in Anaheim and the A's in Oakland as part of a nine game road trip. Then the Twins still don't have Liriano back and Brad Radke might have thrown his last major league pitch. This tells me(as I have been saying for months)that this is the Tigers division. This is a good team with lots of young players. They will be part of the hunt for a LONG time to come. Fact is they started this season ready to play. Something your Cubs haven't done in 100 years.

I find it humorous all the anti cub talk, its like makin fun of the kid with down syndrome, but none the less lets move on

The tigers are still leadin but its a fact they have fallen off play wise since the break, as have all the major teams with the exception of the yankees.

Reading the tiger fan boards, they are scared of the sox, to the point where they hope that the rest of the central beat the sox up so the season series doesnt matter between them.

Point is, should the tigers make the playoffs, they are either playing oakland or the winners of the bos\nyy series cuz they cannot play the central for wildcard\divison winner. So the point being, it means nothing till they actually make it and advance. Same for the mets, means nothing if they get knocked out by the marlins(who are only a few games out of the wild card)

Actually Goodie, with all due respect, the only reason the White Sox get mentioned is because we talk to Natural on the phone alot and he feels the Tigers should fear the White Sox. I actually never believed that. I never thought the White Sox as a playoff team. So if I never thought them as a playoff team then there is nothing to fear. It would be like fearing the Royals with 10 games left and they trail by 50 games. I don't believe in the White Sox so there is nothing to fear. I came into this season saying if the Tigers pitchers mature ( with all the youngsters there that is the best choice of words ) then the Tigers could compete for a playoff spot. So far, I look like a genius with 25 games for the Tigers to play. As far as the White Sox if they make it, that is fine. Like you said, that would be a second round matchup if they both get that far. But what Natural misses here is that Tiger fans wanted a winning season first. They got that. The Tigers fans wanted meaningful games in September second. They got that. The Tigers fans wanted the playoffs third. They will probably get that. World Series title was LAST on this teams agenda and the fans agenda. The fan base here in Michigan know that the Tigers will be around to give them great moments ( provided key players stay healthy ) for the next 10 to 12 years. It is all about pitching and the Tigers have it.

PS: As far as making fun of the Cubs being like making fun of a kid with down syndrome. Have you ever met Natural??? If you ever have, then you would definately understand. :jester:

I was refering to sports boards where tiger fans are discussing the current race for the playoffs

and you can only predict what will happen in the future. Great teams dont remain static, the reason the yankees have been so great is because they change so much, the only 2 from the last world series is jeter and posada. So tigers have the potential to be a great competing franchise for the next few seasons, but all depends on what they do in the offseason

So you omit the fact that Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera were part of those teams and are still on this 2006 team. Fact is the Yankees won four of five with this as the majority winners. Knoblauch,O'Neil,Brosius,Pettitte,Girardi ,Strawberry ,Nelson,Stanton,Martinez,Cone,Gooden,Hernandez and Sojo. Did they win four WS Titles??? No. But they were part of the team for at least three of the four titles. That is at least 17 players that have won at least three WS. That to me is not a lot of change when you keep 17 of your 25 man roster the nucleus of the team. Since those guys have either retired or moved on the Yankees have not won a Championship. The Tigers are still basically the same team from a year ago. Just healthier and they are young and hungry. The difference between the Tigers and the White Sox is big.

And I did. And you are :blaugh:
How about those last place Cubs??? Aren't they just a terrific team??? I think they will go to the World Series this year. :yowzer:  :wowzer: 😱 :jester: :blaugh:

So when I say the Cubs suck ( and they do ) then that is fact also. :manicd:

As it stands right now, if the Tigers ( who have a relatively easy schedule ) go 8-7 ( which seems possible with 6 games with the Royals, a team they are 12-1 against this season ), the Twins will have to go 11 -4 to capture the division. The White Sox will have to go 12-3 to capture the division. Since the Twins and the Tigers both play the White Sox, it seems highly unlikely for the White Sox catch up to both teams to win the division. Here is the schedule down the stretch for all three teams.

Detroit Tigers
September 16&17 --- Baltimore ( 2 games )
September 18-20th @ Chicago ( 3 games )
September 21 @ Baltimore ( 1 game to make up for a May rainout )
September 22-24 @ Kansas City ( 3 games )
September 26-28---- Toronto ( 3 games )
September 29-October 1 ---- Kansas City ( 3 games )

Minnesota
September 16&17 @ Cleveland ( 2 games )
September 19-21 @ Boston ( 3 games )
September 22-24 @ Baltimore ( 3 games )
September 25-28----- Kansas City ( 4 games )
September 29-October 1 ----- Chicago ( 3 games )

Chicago
September 16&17 @ Oakland ( 2 games )
September 18-20-----Detroit ( 3 games )
September 21-24-----Seattle ( 4 games )
September 25-27 @ Cleveland ( 3 games )
September 29-October 1 @ Minnesota ( 3 games )

Everyone must remember that the Tigers are the ones being chased. All they need to do is keep winning like they did last night against Baltimore. The tigers have 9 games against teams with losing records. Can they win 6 of those 9 games??? Can they win just 2 games against the teams with better than .500 records ( 2-4 )??? I think they can. If they do, they will put an awful lot of pressure on this Central division to win their games.

i can't say the tigers can go 8-7. i mean, the royals may suck, but i mean, they have made a great late stretch, and they could spoil it for the tigers. plus, the tigers had a 15 some game lead over both the white soxs and twins, and now, they have lost a ridiculous amount to fall within 2games for the twins. i think the tigers will be a wild card.

Tigers had a 10 game lead over the White Sox. That was their biggest lead of the second place team. Well they are 1-0 since I made the post. I will keep track. 🙂

With tonights win over the White Sox it gives the Tigers a 6 game lead over Chicago for the wild card with only 10 games left while holding the slimmest of leads over Minn for the division. So close, but we need to keep winning...

The Tigers are 3-2 since I posted the schedule. Big wins over the White Sox on Monday and Wednesday. It looks like the party is over for the White Sox. :jester: Oh and Natural, I thought the Tigers weren't making the playoffs. As usual, being the Cubs fan you are, you don't know what you are talking about. 😱 :xpeepsofa :jester:

Congrats to the Tigers, it seems like they are in

But you know what?? Your repeated shots at me and my team, well, you're not even worth it to respond to.

You see, even your congratulations is a slap in the the face. " It seems like they are in." That is why I knock your team. You are rude. So I give it right back to you. And you deserve it. So now your two favorite teams are now outta here.

even though the tigers haven't played .500 ball since Aug. 8th, what they did at the beginning of the season is great enough. and compared to how they were last year, i'm glad to see that team have a great shot to make it over the white soxs. i think the tigers will win 4 games and get the wild card. minnesota is just too strong.
