The Enigma Thread

That is fascinating. I wish I could remember all my dreams.
You need to dream. If you don't your brain gets out of whack. It is very interedting. Some cultures like the Aborhinges in Australia consider dreams to be another reality. Another dimension. Not sure if that is true but it's interesting.

I didn't know that. I should read more about the Australian Aborigines.

The weirdest thing was one time I had a dream about this girl from school. I hadn't seen her since high school. It was about 13 years since I had seen her. Saw her on Facebook. Added her. She writes to me "I can't believe this. Last night I had a dream about you." And I'm 99% sure she was not dreaming about me on any regular basis lol. Just so weird that the one time she really thought of me I wrote to her the same day after all those years.

Yea that is weird. I don't have enough dreams abour women. Lol

When I was teaching, there may have been students who had nightmares in which I appeared the night before final exams.
Yea I helped a biochem prof teach once, he was a brutal grader. Some students got negative scores. Imagine telling a premed student he did so bad he not only didn't get any points on this exam but lost 20 points on his last one. Truly the stuff of nightmares. I was not popular but had to grade the way the prof wanted me to lol

That is really harsh, giving out a negative score. 😱
The worst anybody ever did on one of my tests was bad enough: 3%, exactly 3 points partial credit on one question out of 100 points possible for the whole test.

Yes he was not a popular professor at all. Lol.

I was very popular among math majors, but only average among those who took the core curriculum math course from me.
Cool. I can see that. You know your stuff 👍

I had pretty good math professors in college. Which was lucky cause most of them like to fail half the class. It's why I couldn't get a math minor ad an undergraduate.

I never liked to fail anybody, so if possible I would give them a D as a clear indication that they shouldn't take any more math courses.
Sometimes there was no choice, for example if somebody got 48 (out of 100) on the final exam. 🙁

That's cause you were a good professor. If you are failing half the class you are not teaching them well. In my opinion at least.

Thank you for your good opinion. I always thought that I was a skilled teacher.

You are most welcome.

My only asset in being a teaching assitant was I have a booming voice. At UCLA some of the classes were over 300 and were in auditoriums. Everyone could hear me and I never used the PA system for the auditorium. Lol

That is really good voice projection. My largest class was 46 students in a normal sized class room.

Yea it came in handy. The class sizes at UCLA could get really huge. The labs were of course much smaller like 30 students.

Smaller classes were the best...my 8th grade class graduated 14 kids.

Although you could hide easier in bigger classes.
