In my area, we have a local band called "freebeerandchicken".

Anybody else know of any interesting names from your local starving minstrels?

I seem to recall "The Cow Patty Hillbillies" way back when. They did mainly line and square dance stuff. I'm not much into either. But, they were pretty good.

There are a couple of local groups here with names that caught my ear. I can't think of them at the moment. (They must have let go!) 😛

Lemme see, strange band names from my local music scene... "Chet" is a strange name. "Colonel Mustard" doesn't sound strange, but their song titles are hilarious. A band very close to me called "Shaolin Skunk" are gonna gig real soon. Solo artists/projects like "Mushroom Jefferson" and "Yokohama Surf" are worth mentioning too.

"Free Beer and Chicken" is actually the title of a John Lee Hooker record from the 70s.
As for whacked-out band names, my favorite is still -

when I was a kid, we lived it Texas for a while and my family was friends with a local band called The Bee's Knees. that always struck me funny. always pictured dancing bees with big knobby knees.

Here are two bands from NE ohio whose names immediately come to mind. There are the charming Dead Body Chuckers, and the appropriately-named Pirates that Carve Out Your Eyes and Piss in Your Eye Sockets.

When I was in high-school, we had a band called Buster Hymen and the Penetrators. 😀

My current band is "Beggar's Canyon", which is a veiled Star Wars reference.

I was in a band called "Restless Leg Syndrome" once. And for those of you who have visited the Artwork forum and seen my Easter thread, the new girls Mitzy and Alex were in that band with me!

Around here we have a number of young bands. A couple of them are not so "local" anymore, but when they were, we used to make fun of their names. 3 Doors Down & 12 Stone....we figured if you had a number in the title, you'd get famous!

There are a couple more...
How about Watership Down? name yourself after the bunny book.

Flexible Kitten is a cool name I think.

But, my favorite of the moment is pretty good group that call themselves DROPPING TROW. Hehe, cracked me up when I realized what they meant. 😀

Hmmmmmmmmm......Here in the D.C. area, I've been told about a band called The Swinging Nut Sax (a horn-based funk band), in the Buffalo area I was especially found of a band called GoDogGo, and there was a band out of Canada (Ontario, I think) that achieved some Canadian-national & U.S.-regional notoriety called Rainbow Butt Monkeys........

Although they broke up a while back, we used to have a band around here called "Sporting Woodies".
