Thierry Meyssan's book "The Frightening Fraud" became a best seller in France with its thesis that the U.S. government staged the attack on the Pentagon on Sept. 11.

Maybe its something in the wine, or else the cheese has all gone bad....whatever, they're "on to us" now!

:sowrong: Q

Congresswoman Cynthia Mckinney of georgia said she thought that Bush and his staff knew that the attack on the pentagon was going to happen before it did...She also tried to get the check from the middle east guy that Mayor Giuliani turned down. just goes to show you stupidity runs rampant everywhere.

I can't see why he turned down that cheque, it's not like the 'middle east guy' was behind the controls of one of the planes. I thought he was from a friendly country? 😕

i believe the reason he turned it down was because Saudi Prince al-Waleed made a statement condeming the united states middle eastern policies and their alliance with isreal. or something to that effect.

Giuliani turned the check down when he discovered that while al-Waleed
was being so gracious, hie "entourage" was milling around telling everyone how the 9/11 attacks were the fault of the US because of our foreign policy.

I had also heard right after 9/11 that Bush ordered the attacks to prop up the stock market, which was sliding a bit.Right...save the stock market with an attack on the economic sector.

Some people are living proof that conception via anal sex IS possible.

It's really hard to take the French seriously about anything. I mean they eat snails and worship Jerry Lewis.🙂

I would join in, but I'm in enough trouble already. One of our mods actually seems to LIKE the bastards.

...oh, hell. Here it comes!

The French have never hesitated to act in their own self-defined national interest, and to hell with everyone else. That's OK with their neighbors. When America does the same, though, we're "unilateralists" and that's not OK. Seems to me there's a double standard here. Or are there some special rules of diplomacy that I've missed?

Vive la Republics!!

(note the use of the plural!!) Blimey! so is this the frog bashing thread then?? trouble with the French is they have trouble making their minds up about things, just look at the trouble with the French fleet holed up in Oran after the fall of France in WW2, Churchill said "ok chaps just pootle on up the channel with that lot and we will sort Gerry out together" so what do the French say? "On contrair Meester Churcheel, we want to have a bit of a think about it for a while (as you do with the entire Third Reich about to put bath towells over the entire French fleet!!!) result? RAF away win.

Then there was the farce of the allied invasion of French north africa, they still could not make their minds up who,s side they were on so they shot at us!!!

and then you have De Gaul, what a knob head, how many Americans know that Roosevelt was in favour of having him assasinated?

Still, the wines nice dont you think?

Wine...

too bad they aren't really responsible for "French" fries...i could forgive them for a LOT if that was the case... 😉 Q

Well if you knew anything about the topic of European relations with the French, you would know that the UK is almost always on the brink of trade war with them. In the treaty of versailles after WWII, the French primeminister was well known to have fallen asleep when issues not concerning his own country were being discussed.... etcetera, etcetera

I admire the French for not giving a rat's ass what anyone else thinks of them.🙂

LOL, I happen to like the French, too, although they mostly hate the Germans! 😀

Charles de Gaulle once said: "It's extremely hard to rule a country where 300 different kinds of cheese are produced". That summarizes the French penchant for extreme individualism pretty well, don't you think so?

BTW: Did you know that the nickname 'Frogs' has its origins in a French culinary habit of eating frog legs? Here's a nice pic:

They actually pity the rest of the world for not having this delicacy on their menus. Frog legs taste really delicious with garlic sauce! 😀

About the French

I met a really cute lovely young girl from France. Black hair, olivy skin, brown eyes, about 5'3", and adoreable. But the more I spoke to her the more I realized the only thing I like about France is her and French Toast.😀

the (ugh) french...

well as i told hal once, the french haven't been worth a darn since old nappy was sent to alba.

as far as the wine goes, i think it tastes like piss. did you know they export the lesser qualities to america? thats not a lie. i know some people who have been on a wine tour of france, (both own up scale wine shops in the mid-west) when they tried to place an order for a 100 cases of some stuff they tasted, they were told no, never to america! and they were given some other swill, that was exportable to america!

look up the battle of oran, in north africa. the french fought us harder than they fought the germans the previous year!

The French fought harder to keep EuroDisney out than they did against the Third Reich. "No, we will never allow your feelthy cartoon mouse to stain zee blessed soil of Paris, we will fight to our last breath to keep you out... Oh, pardon. Right zis way, Monsieur Hitler. Here are zee keys to zee Louvre." There's probably a French Resistance against EuroDisney as well, meeting in Metro tunnels in the dead of night: "Non Louis, eet ees all right. Zee duck, 'e ees one of us."

i dont want to get into french bashing..every culture and country has its good and bad...but that aside..damn Madkalnod that was funny...i'll be laughing about that for a while... 🙂

Please folks, cut down on bashing the French. We DO have French members, you know, and this forum is international. I'd like to stay it that way.

Thanks!

French wine in USA loses much of its character, as it doesn't like the shipping, and almost no Americans (except a few conoisseurs) know how to handle it right. That may be one of the reasons why they send only their second or third quality over. For a good bottle of French wine, you should calculate at least 15$ per bottle in the store, or about 40-50$ in a restaurant. This makes the American market for real good wine extremely narrow.

When I'm in the States, I prefer Californian wine. When in Europe, I prefer French or Italian wine.

omg, how condesending!

hal that was just awfull. americans don't know how to handle the best french wines? thats why we get 3rd rate swill? oh man, lolol, that was low!

personally i prefer italian, and german wines, wether in america, or europe. my taste runs toward the sweeter varieties.

steve :wow: 😛

I thought the reason Q started this thread was to bash the French a little. IMO, the Brits and Americans should have sat out the First World War.

Ah, the French aren't all that bad. The book might be a best seller, but I bet most of them don't believe it. As for the wine, I don't by any wine in America, one because I'm not old enough, but more importantly, it's way too expensive here. I had a few nice nights on my French trip, with the local girls. They don't all raise their nose at us "stupid Americans" some recognize us as the great people we are. People the important word in that sentance. Every race has jerks, every race has gentlemen, every race has ladies. What a wonderful world.

Bashing..lol

Not trying to "bash" them...just constantly "amazed' by their choices! Sort of the same way I look at a small child running towards a 6 foot high wave breaking towards the beach...a lesson is about to be learned, and it fascinates me. Q

The French wine suppliers have a point with me.I've only drank Boone's farm and maddog...which to this day makes my stomach churn.

Seems that France is much like Israel in taking care of no.1 first. All in all, that's not always a bad idea.Just be prepared for the people you piss off in the process.
