It was Casey Stengel, managing the lowly NY Mets in 1964, who came up with one of my favorite quotes by a manager. His Mets had lost that day, 10-0, with four or five of the runs allowed unearned. His team had made mental errors as well, running into outs on the base paths.

Asked to comment on the day's events, he said, "Spread out over two weeks, what we did today could have been a very long losing STREAK." :rowfull:

Yes, he was congratulating the Mets on getting all that bad pitching, bad hitting, bad defense, and bad base running into just one game, so they suffered only one game in the L COLUMN. 😀
 
A truly wonderful game indeed, my friend. Your team more than batted around in the very first inning and never looked BACK. 😀

Yes indeed. 😀 And Von Hayes hit two home runs in the first inning...a solo home run to lead off the game and a GRAND SLAM later in the first INNING. :bouncybou

This is truly one of those "spooky" moments where I had no idea that today was the actual anniversary of that game. 😱 They just announced it on the Phillies broadcast and I had no idea it was the anniversary when I mentioned that game to you earlier. When things like that happen, I really start to believe that are no such things as just COINCIDENCES. 😱

At some level of your unconscious mind you did remember that today was the anniversary and that is what made you use that game as an EXAMPLE. 😀
