Small Update
Not sure I'm gonna get the time to do much work on this game for the next month or so. On the last month of coursework for my Uni course and it's been a fucking nightmare! When I do get time to spare atm, I haven't had the right frame of mind to work on the game. So not alot has been added yet.... sorry guys! I'm not gonna abandon this project, but I'm also not throwing away my well being and course for it. So just be patient and expect a proper update on status around mid-april

Not really much to report..... Hit a problem with an event and a bit of scripting I've done that kinda halted progress. I'm gonna try figure out a way to get it working, but haven't had the time to what with my project work finishing and my exams coming up. I'll try get some time done on it, but no promises... This month is gonna be a craaaahzaaay one for me, but I'll try my best!

Print out the coding onto a sheet of paper, bash it with a shovel, and jam the paper back into the disk tray.

Worked for me.
 
I can't help with the scripting issue, but ask around - maybe someone else already has the solution.

I'm just glad the answer is "I'm stuck" instead of "Well, you see..." :stickout
 
It's something I'm sure I can easily fix when I've got a clearer head, just what with the end result of 6 years of higher education coming to an end with Exams...... Yeah.... head's been a bit out of it. Plus waiting til after these exams will likely mean I can get some better content out and pack much more into the next chapter... unlike with the second chapter that was fairly short, due in part to how much I had going on at the time.
 
Ok so my Exams start next week, so this month is gonna be "Hellish Month". However, I've taken the evening off relax a bit and put some ideas down and get some stuff sorted out for the next chapter (which I've decided to modify slightly from what I was originally gonna do with this chapter). However, the moment I started on some scripting for one of the new areas, my stomach started making some worryingly angry gurgling noises... despite the fact that I just ate supper! Soooo..... Yeah, I think I'll leave it for tonight before my gut tries to kill me.....

Thank you Miss Forum God! I guess that don't sell that stuff down in the South-West of Britain. It's alright though, my stomach has sorted itself.... for now

Oh and another thing:

Originally, I intended to release the branching section for the next new area and the new area itself in one chapter. However, I have kinda kept you guys waiting on the new content for quiet a few months now. So I came up with a small idea I'd let the public decide upon. Your choices are two fold: Wait patiently for probably quiet a few months for both in one, or I can just release the branching section as the next chapter. I'm not sure how long it will take me to flesh out the new area and such, but I estimate that I could probably finish off the branching section by the end of June, maybe even throw in some more goodies into it!

So which one do you guys want to happen?

First off, you should go with whatever is best for moving the game forward. If it fits for you to keep them together, you should. That being said, I'm always in favor of putting more content out sooner. It gives us another chapter to focus over and renew our enthusiasm while you keep at it.

it doesn't matter either or to me, it's why I suggested it. The thought behind was to let you guys decide if you want something now to play with or if you want to wait to have more at once
 
I'd vote for just releasing the next chapter when it's done, but I have a suspicion that "give us things asap" will always win in these polls.
 
Meh... I'm kinda torn between the two choices.

Sooner is cool and all, but I can't shake the feeling that sooner means slightly less quality. I'm probably worrying over nothing, but I still just can't shake the feeling.

Hmm... I can't decide for myself, so I'll do what I always do in these situations: Let this coin decide for me.

Heads: Sooner

Tails: Later

It's not "Less quality", I'm still gonna be working my ass off on this. It's just that instead of getting a new area aswell, you just get the branch leading up to it and then the new area as it's own chapter, like last time! Except this area is shaping up to be bigger than the last one.
 
Just release it when you will finish everything. We have other games in works that could potentially occupy us til then lol
 
I like frequent releases.

Do whatever makes development most fun and efficient for you, though.

If you get encouragement out of the comments and praise from updates, update as often as possible.

If big updates are more cathartic, do that instead.
 
Just downloaded this game, it looks tremendous!

I feel like such an idiot for not figuring this out, but how do you get to the water in the tickly carpet room? It seems that no matter where I stumble around I can't find the way out of that floating square into the water. :cry

It is. You picked the wrong gem to insert into the mirror.

I'm not sure which gem is the right one, but the right gem should bring you back to where you came from. Using a wrong gem simply puts you into a game over room.

(god my memory is selectively superb.. I can remember THAT, yet I cannot remember what I had for breakfast today...)
