This might be early - but I was wondering what the lamest toy you ever had as a kid,

Mine would have to be the Colleego(sic) Football Game. You may remember it.It was a electric magnetized playing surface that once you turned it on-the tiny football players would move down the field or crash into each other or,in most cases, head straight for the sideline wall.
The Quarterback had a retractable arm and you'd put the magnetic football in the hand and sling it at a receiver and hope you hit the maganetized platform that the players was mounted on.Of course it never worked.(Some players were content to travel around and around in a circle!)

Quiz Wiz. An electronic book that you plugged different quiz modules into, answering questions and being rewarded with beeps and buzzes.

My parents were on a "educational toy" kick at the time. It was the first thing I put into the garage sale that summer🙄

Hmmmm....

I agree with the football game being pretty much useless. I think we (my 3 brohters and I) ended up taking it out back to use for target practice. I liked quiz wiz, however.

The most useless thing I ever got was a set of barbie dolls. I was quite the tomboy. So, they were never used for their intended purpose. Instead, we used string and plastic sandwhich bags and turned them into GI Jane...paratrooper extraordinaire. We loved tossing them off the garage roof or the upstairs porch. Some, sadly perished when they jumped into fire zones, etc. But, they fought bravely. Needless to say, my parents never bought me dolls after that. 😀

LOL...I recieved a couple of those electric football games for Christmas gifts while growing up. One was a "Superbowl" electric football game, and featured the Baltimore Colts and Dallas Cowboys, which tells you how old I am (they met in Super Bowl #5....January 1971 😀

They did have one use....dad taught me a lot of football strategy in those days lining up the offensive and defensive teams to illustrate different formations, blocking schemes, blitz packages, etc.

Those combination quarterback/ kickers were hilarious. Try to throw a pass and it would fly completely out of the "stadium" (but I also kicked a couple 90 yd FG's 😀 😀

Anything my father and his wife got us as kids. Every year we made a huge wish list at their request and every year they filled the tree with useless crap that we never used. It's like they thought "more was better, no matter what" (yes I know it sounds ungrateful) But we'd have rather had a COUPLE of "most wanted" items than hundreds of dollars of clothes that were not our taste, etc.

But to this day, it taught me a lesson. Whenever a friend speaks admiringly over something, I write it down so I can get it for them come Christmas. I usually take a second job so I can afford to give them something nice. They always tell me "OMG~I can't BELIEVE you remembered I wanted that~you give the BEST presents!"😛

XOXO

the most useless gift i ever got was a bunch of clothes that i never wore.

I have to agree with Steph and Jester....I recieved a lot of useless crap. My grandmother in Tennessee always sent clothes as Christmas presents, and even worse....always clothes that 1) wouldn't fit me, and 2) there was no way to exchange for correct size (stores were local Tennessee merchants, none in Georgia).
She seemed to always think I was smaller than reality...because every clothing item she sent was too small.

I also remember a couple other Christmas present "doozies" from my Tennessee Grandma over the years as I grew up....like jigsaw puzzles with several pieces missing 😀

My brother got me the game "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the Sega Genesis when I was a kid...but I didn't have a Sega Genesis at the time (but I got one about 5 months later).

It's not exactly useless...unless you don't have a Genesis...

Underwear or socks. Man, you opened that up and it was like you wanted to scream "what the F'n hell was the thought behind me being excited over this CCRRRRAAAAPPPPPP!!!!!!!" You would look over and the person who gave you it (mostly mom or grandma), who was looking at you with a "ain't that great. New socks" look like it was the greatest gift ever". You had to give that look. "Yeah. This is great." and then quickly run to another non thin rectanugular box present just to get that smile back on your face again. I remeber I got gloves once and I wanted to go "We are in Hawaii. It never got below 69 degrees, ever! What the hell do I need this for!" But that wouldn't have looked good coming out of the mouth of an 8 year old. I am just glad I was way too old when under-roos came out or I know somehow I would have gotten them too...then with them on, I would have found the nearest cliff and jumped off.😀

Those big tin tubes of assorted popcorn (by flavor). Don't get me wrong, its a nice thought and even these types of gifts are well recieved by me, but the problem is some of them taste nasty, and I never really liked this type of popcorn.

I don't know that it renders them "useless", but I didn't eat much from them. Whats important was the thought, and that it didn't go to waste and that someone ate them. Also the tin tubs served other uses, and they had pictures on them, so you could always use it as a decoration for Christmas or use it as a box for a gift.

Something my cousin did for me for example a long time ago was bought me one of these popcorn tubs but he opened it, had a videogame sealed in plastic and then he put in the popcorn.

What a nice surprize, to be sort of disappointed by the gift but then realizing that after digging through and feeling something as I was grabbing at the popcorn I found the game buried in it, and it's the game I wanted.

What a nice memory. ^^

a radio activatated dog that I hated.

What made it worse, I really wanted a My Little Pony that year!!!
