Growing up I was a HUGE Power Ranger fan (only the original series) and I am sure more of you out there watched this. I was wondering what the hell happened to these people so after a little looking around I found out all this:
Austin St. John - Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger)
Austin St. John was 18 when he got the part of the Red Ranger. Due to a salary dispute he left the original series but came back in the second series Power Rangers Zeo. He also appeared in the 2nd feature film Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. His last appearance as a ranger was a guest spot in a 2002 episode of Power Rangers: Wild Force.
Now 33, Austin St. John has left the acting world and is currently a paramedic in Washington D.C. His non-Ranger work was a couple of bit parts in movies and he released a book on teaching martial arts to beginners. He remains loyal to the Power Ranger fans and his active in the convention circuit.
Thuy Trang - Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger)
Vietnamese actress Thuy Trang was 20 when she got the part of the Yellow Ranger. She left the Rangers due to a salary dispute and never appeared in any of the films or any other incarnations of the Rangers.
Thuy Trang died in September 2001 in a car accident; she was 28 years old. Her only other gig was the role of a villain in 1996’s The Crow: City of Angels; sequel to Brandon Lee’s original. A 2004 episode of Power Rangers Dino Thunder was dedicated to her.
Walter Emmanuel Jones - Zack Taylor (Black Ranger)
Walter Emmanuel Jones was 23 when he got the part of the Black Ranger. Along with Thuy Trang and Austin St. John left the original series due to a salary dispute and never appeared in anything else Ranger related.
Now 37, Walter Jones continued to do bit parts in many tv series since leaving the Rangers; such as Step by Step, Family Matters, Malibu Shores, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Moesha, and The Shield. His only steady gig since leaving the Rangers was a short-lived Nickelodeon sci-fi comedy Space Cases in 1996.
He is a hip-hop/dance instructor in Los Angeles and is active in the convention circuit for his fans from the Rangers.
Amy Jo Johnson - Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger)
Amy Jo Johnson was 23 when she got the part of the Pink Ranger. She appeared in the original series and the two Power Ranger feature films; Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
Now 38, Amy Jo Johnson is perhaps the most successful of the original Power Rangers. Since leaving the Rangers she went on to many recurring roles on tv series such as Felicity, The Division, Wild Fire, and recently on Flashpoint. She is also a musician and has released 4 albums to date.
David Yost - Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger)
David Yost was 24 when he got the part of the Blue Ranger. He appeared in the first Ranger film and continued to the next series Power Rangers Zeo.
Now 39, David Yost went on to do behind-the-camera work and became a reality show/documentary producer. He produced Alien Hunter, Temptation Island, and You Are What You Eat.
Jason David Frank - Tommy Oliver (Green Ranger)
Jason David Frank was 20 when he got the part of the Green Ranger. He was the first ‘new’ Ranger on the show and originally was a villain. He continued to do many Power Ranger series; Zeo, Turbo, Wild Force, Dino Thunder; as well as the two feature films. He lasted the longest on Power Ranger related things than any one to date; lasting from 1993-2004.
Now 35, Jason David Frank has left the acting world and currently owns and operates his own martial arts school in Los Angeles. His non-Ranger work includes movie bit parts and a 4-episode stint on Sweet Valley High.
