Talk about anything pet here. Pets you have. Pets you had. Pets you are thinking of getting. Pets you would recommend to others.

Nitro was the first Boston Terrier I ever had. My brother brought him home one night and my mom flipped. He promised he was only staying a night or two and that his friend who breeds puppies let him keep him for a day. And almost 12 years later he was still at our house 🙂.

The first pets that I remember were dozens of tropical fish who lived in a 20-gallon tank in our apartment in the Bronx.

Are Boston Terriers good dogs fro a beginner like me? I kind of like smaller dogs a bit more.

Cool. My dad was from the Bronx. Don't think he had any goldfish. Just a parrot that use to swear at everyone lol.

The 20-gallon tank for the tropical fish had an electric device under water inside it that kept the water oxygenated. I liked to watch the bubbles rising from this device. :bubble:

Well I always say that usually bigger dogs listen more easily than smaller dogs lol.
But yeah they are great dogs...very fun, a lot of personality, smart and loyal...but they can be stubborn and have a little attitude but it makes them fun too.

I always wanted a cat when I was a child, but both of my parents hated cats, so I never got one. 🙁

Yea the house isn't but enough for a big dog, though the yard is. Fun is a good thing 👍

My dad loved dogs, but my mother was terrified of dogs. She had been bitten by a big dog when she was 4 years old and never got over her fear of them. As a result, we never had a dog either. 🙁

Certainly explains why she didn't like them.
Not sure why my mom hated cats but she definitely was scared of them.

My biggest problem with Damian is explaining to him not everyone wants to be your friend...some people don't want you to run up to them and pet you and have you jump on them.

My mother hated friendly dogs and tried to shoo them away, not always with success.

Awww that's adorable. I would be his friend :bounce:

I can see though that can be a problem.

My mom wasnt a pet person either. Dad use to take me too the pet store to pet the puppies so I could sort of play with them.

Since I take him to the park where there are many dog walkers usually it's not a problem. They want him to come say Hi...but sometimes people aren't into dogs. You can tell. This one lady recently was nuts. She motioned for him to come to her and acted all friendly saw how he was going to run up to her and jump and suddenly turned the opposite and started admonishing him lol. I was like woah lady make up your mind.

After we moved to New Jersey and no longer had the tank of tropical fish, I did get a pet turtle. :turtle:

Yea sometimes people are scared. Like my mom was always scared. Why i had to be sneaky. Usually i wpuld feed or be friendly to a stray then thet would keep coming back.

Yeah sometimes bad experiences can make people afraid too even if the dog is harmless.

Turtles are nice. Are they hard to raise?
No, they stay in their little enclosure and eat whatever vegetables or fruit that you give them. You need to clean out their waste once a day. The drawback is that they don't do anything very interesting, so watching them is not much fun.
