The Pet Thread

Damian had so much fun at the park Monday...he met several people who played with him and dogs. It's funny to watch how he tries to win over the people or dogs who aren't sure about playing with him. And then they usually wind up giving in to him.

I alwats went by is the dogs tail wagging. That was a good sign he is friendly. Barking doesn't mean the dog is angry. Growling is a bad sign. I don't pet or play with growling dogs lol.

A couple in my building own a small dog with white, curly hair and that dog always barks at me. They claim that Honey (their dog) isn't angry, but rather excited to see me and barks when excited. I'm not sure that I believe it.

Yea it can be a little intimidating. I use the waggy tail thing too to help evaluate.

Damian wags his tail more than most dogs I've ever seen...sometimes I'm like why you wagging your tail now for no reason?
That is like a person who is always smiling, so you don't believe that their smile means anything.

I had a friend who had a dog. That dog just growled at me. Not a little growl like an angry show your teeth growl. Never ever petted that dog. Lol

Maybe it was hungry and thought you were a bone Kurch.
Ironically, most dogs you should never try to take food out of their mouth...Rollins you try to do that he'll send you to the ER but Damian I pull stuff out of his mouth all the time with no problem. He gives it up.

The nastiest dog (with respect to protecting its food) that I ever knew was a standard poodle that belonged to one of my aunts. He would bite anybody that came within 10 or 12 inches of his food dish. He would do this even if there was no food in the dish at that time. After three bitten visitors to their home (and two lawsuits), they kept him locked in the basement whenever they had visitors. That made the poodle even nastier and meaner.
