It's been nearly 3 weeks since I've started my latest job, and I thought I'd enlighten you with the good and bad, just in case you're curious...

The first week was hell. I had to deep-clean flats and worked 60 hours that week. I had to dust the bedrooms all over, wipe clean the surfaces, vacuum the hair-laden carpets and there's the bathrooms... the toilets, sink and the tiles had to be descaled. While doing toilets was quite nasty, cleaning out the filters under the shower drain was just rancid: The smell nearly poisoned me. Seriously, the filth that university students live in is just appalling. Personal hygiene is obviously part of their syllabus. The long working hours, the repetitive and undesirable cleaning jobs, and doing it alone with no music or no-one to talk to made me incredibly bad-tempered, and I ended up shouting and spitting at someone in an argument during the week. While the scuffle was sorted and we're all getting along, I'm on my final warning.

With the bad comes the good, and it's real good. The 18 year-old students from Italy, Spain, Croatia, and other places arrived after the first week and moved into the flats we cleaned, and our role is to service them (make beds, the odd spot of vacuum cleaning, dusting and bathroom wipe-downs, etc.). We have to knock on the door and ask if they require any servicing. Sometimes, they're still in their room and have just come out of bed and are still in their nightwear. Naturally, I take most notice of the girls, and to see them come out barefoot and sometimes wearing very little (generally a t-shirt and hotpants) and show off their tanned skin across their bodies... good God, you need a calculator to count the fantasies that spring up in my screwed-up little head! These kids party nearly every night, and I'm planning to join them for at least one night and maybe do a few unholy things in the process! 😛

Anyway, I'll probably add a few updates in this thread when the need arises...

I don't envy you, man. I can imagine it's no picnic cleaning up after filthy college kids, especially after parties. In the Marine Corps, "field day" of the barracks rooms commences every Thursday night at 1800, to be inspected by the Company Gunnery Sergeant on Friday morning. The last time we had inspection failures, about two weeks ago, all of us supervisors (Corporals and Sergeants) had to come in Saturday morning at 0500 to watch over the troops while they cleaned their rooms again, scrutinizing every little detail, and for some of the problem children who act like they've never cleaned anything in their life (the type who will clean their fridge with the same sponge they use to clean their toilet.), we'd have to go beyond babysitting and physically show them how to clean. To say the least, it was NOT fun, especially for those of us who are married and don't utilize the barracks. Don't you wish college kids had this same sense of structure? 🙂

Shoot, man, if you're gonna be cleaning up after these guys and girls, you may as well party with them. Then maybe you'll feel like you're just helping out with the aftermath of something you contributed to AND getting paid for it. 😉

Invite me to one of those parties you bastard! 😀

I don't envy you either. Eastern European women? No thanks. I prefer my ladies...well, at the moment it's been a while so I'd prefer nothing, but not Eastern European women. And if you think it's fun looking after these women wait until the dirty Lilets and knicker liners start turning up behind the beds and stuff. That should be fun for you!

I don't think I can count Spain as Eastern European. Anyway, one thing I haven't mentioned yet is that there are many lesbians and gays staying over.

You can tell with the blokes because of their flamboyance, good dress sense and plucked eyebrows, but it ain't too obvious with the girls until you see their bedrooms. A number of them bring their beds/mattresses into their friend's room, so it's almost always two in one room in some cases (I saw three in one room once). Now, that's not enough to say that they are lesbians, because girls usually like sleeping over together in a slumber party kinda way, but when you see two girls actually holding hands in public and kissing each other on the lips (which I saw) and catching them snogging in a bedroom (which a female colleague found out yesterday), it's rubber stamped. The fact that they held a cross-dressing disco on Friday just proves the lack of straight people amongst Embassy CES tours!

To be honest, I rarely see a straight couple staying over. I think being a straight man in this society is becoming increasingly redundant! Oh well, I can always burst into bedrooms using my master key when a carpet-licking session is going on...
