It's been nearly 3 weeks since I've started my latest job, and I thought I'd enlighten you with the good and bad, just in case you're curious...
The first week was hell. I had to deep-clean flats and worked 60 hours that week. I had to dust the bedrooms all over, wipe clean the surfaces, vacuum the hair-laden carpets and there's the bathrooms... the toilets, sink and the tiles had to be descaled. While doing toilets was quite nasty, cleaning out the filters under the shower drain was just rancid: The smell nearly poisoned me. Seriously, the filth that university students live in is just appalling. Personal hygiene is obviously part of their syllabus. The long working hours, the repetitive and undesirable cleaning jobs, and doing it alone with no music or no-one to talk to made me incredibly bad-tempered, and I ended up shouting and spitting at someone in an argument during the week. While the scuffle was sorted and we're all getting along, I'm on my final warning.
With the bad comes the good, and it's real good. The 18 year-old students from Italy, Spain, Croatia, and other places arrived after the first week and moved into the flats we cleaned, and our role is to service them (make beds, the odd spot of vacuum cleaning, dusting and bathroom wipe-downs, etc.). We have to knock on the door and ask if they require any servicing. Sometimes, they're still in their room and have just come out of bed and are still in their nightwear. Naturally, I take most notice of the girls, and to see them come out barefoot and sometimes wearing very little (generally a t-shirt and hotpants) and show off their tanned skin across their bodies... good God, you need a calculator to count the fantasies that spring up in my screwed-up little head! These kids party nearly every night, and I'm planning to join them for at least one night and maybe do a few unholy things in the process! 😛
Anyway, I'll probably add a few updates in this thread when the need arises...
