The "Quiet" Chatroom

Hi folks...

In the last couple weeks I have been in and out of the TMF chatroom and it never seizes to amaze me at as why people go in a *chatroom* and just sit there and say nothing. I really have never seen nothing like this. Here is a place where us ticklers/lees can all hang out and talk live with each other and share our passion, but yet so many choose just not to talk. I don't get it. If someone can explain, please do. Yes, there has been great days in there, but for the most part, for example, I will go in there and there will be about 6-7 people hanging out, and none of them will even say as much as a hello even if you try and say hello to them!!! Maybe it's just because I am a dude and they have no interest in talking with me since I am not a female, but to me I enjoy talking to anyone who shares the same interest. You can always share a good story, techniques, or just make new friends...right? Just wondering how others feel about this...not that it is a problem because it really is not...but at the same time I always think back to when I had *Noone* to talk about my passion and how lonely it was, and now that we have the internet and chatrooms it makes no sense why our own kind does not want to communicate??? Well, maybe it's just me? Maybe noone likes me...(so I guess I will go eat worms!!!!)

Anyhow...just wish people were more friendly in the TMF chat.

What you are seeing is not unusual for chatrooms on the web. A good number of the people in a mature chat room have gathered a group of friends in it whom they chat with in IM's. That's what you are seeing in the TMF's room. It is a bummer, for it's like walking into a club and having to sit alone.

All I can say is keep popping in, talking with people when you can, and allow them to start seeing you as a regular, and you'll start finding yourself in conversation most of the time.

I'm often silent in the room myself because I'm monitoring it, and doing things in other parts of the web (working on the site, reading, answering e-mail, even occasionly counseling) So I miss people coming in and don't always get a chance to say hello.

Hi, well, here I am, posting 😉

I've gone into the chatroom a few times this last week or so and lurk. My reason is I'm an 18 year old female, and the second I say something, even hello, I get millions upon millions of private messages...most of them asking for age/sex/location, which is a little intimidating.

And I'm a shy girl, and of course when I say millions I'm exaggerating. And from lurking and reading posts here, I know that about 99.9% of you, if not all, are wonderful, thoughtful people who are considerate. But it does get a little intimidating.

But I can't speak for everyone. 🙂

I first started coming into the TMF chatroom only about 3 weeks ago. During the first week it seemed like everything was good. I noticed a lot of participation in the room, plenty of chat going on. I even made the comment about how fun it was to finally have an active tickle chat room.

Them BOOM...now you can hear a pindrop while in there. Granted, there is going to be private messaging going on, I just wish not as much.

A few weeks ago I posted a thread that mentioned adding voice chat to the room. I think that would be a fun way to interact with others.

I've used Yahoo messanger for voice chat and have really enjoyed it.

Just a thought.
