Re: My feelings.....

I think we have control over one thing and one thing alone: our behavoir. We don't have control over our feelings like alot of people seem to think we do. Emotions are cause and effect, we can always bury them. Okay we might have some limited control over certain aspects of life and death but that again is governed by our behavoir. I think control over ones personal life is kind of an illusion, because there are so many factors that could take that control away from you at any time. Indeed, we have influence over our life, but influence does not equal control. Just my cent in a half.
Interesting thoughts.
Control of a certain degree may be ceded to others, because of overt control on their part, but covert control (which is the most prevalent kind in the West) can only exist if people give away their independant thought and decision making processes to others. Most Americans and Brits did that during the war in Iraq by believeing the utter codswallop fed to them on a daily basis by various lying politicians; aided and abetted by CNN, Fox, Sky News and the BBC.
Saddam is a raving nutter, a muslim and a fundamentalist. So he must be supporting Osama right? Sadly, no. Those two hate each others guts to such a degree that Osama tried to persuade the Saudi Arabian government to let him attack Saddam's forces when he invaded Kuwait in 1990. One of Osama's conditions was that Saudi keep American troops off the Arabian peninsula. If the Saudis agreed, he would throw an attack against the Iraqi occupiers. That's the degree to which Saddam and Osama are bosom buddies.
But ask 99% of westerners and they'll believe that there is an abundance of connections between the old IRaqi regime and al-Qaeda. It was this heavy suggestion that let the West's politicians go to war in Iraq a few months ago. And the reason for hating Osama was that his bunch of suicidal lunatics were responsible for 9/11. Again not only questionable, but an explanation more full of holes than an empty cemetary.
Why am I going off on one of my well known "Conspiracy" rants? (Copyright on the capitalisation (c) goes to Myriads)Because it illustrates the point I was making earlier. Lord alone knows how many civillians and military died in the war; a war that was the military equivalent of Mike Tyson being put in the ring with the Pope. But that war could'nt have happened if everyone in the West didn't rely soley on politicians and news agencies like Claptrap No News to give them their facts.
If every sentinent citizen excercised their power of thought and rationalisation, there would'nt have been everyone agreeing with each other, because people will always have different opinions about things. But there would have been millions less people being blindly hypnotised into believeing that an act of international genocide (which many of us aren't even aware of the full details of because......surprise surprise......CNN doesn't inform us about the truth of it) was the answer to our problems with terrorists.
As a society, we gave our will and decision making responsibilities to such a degree that a horrendous slaughter was the result. A slaughter that would'nt have happened if we hadn't given our sentinence away to the people we blindly cheer for every 4 or 5 years in the first place. A classic example of just how powerful an individual citizen is possible to be.
