Last night, into this morning,it had snowed where I was parked at for the night in Allentown,PA. Of course, there was a couple inches of snow on top of the trailer. That stands 13 feet 6 inches high.

PA is one of the states that has a law for us truckers that we have to get that snow,or ice off the top of the trailer. If we don't we can get fined.

I have seen no truck stops that have a doohickey that removes the snow on top of the trailers. Very few of our shippers and recievers where we do a drop from our current trailer, and hook onot the new trailer has them.

I understand snow or ice flying off a trailer can be a safety hazzard. If there is no way I,or any other trucker can get to one of those snow removal dohicckeys, then why the hell do they fine us? If it truly is a safety issue, then these fucking states need to provide the proper equipment for us to use.

That is common sense.but the lawmakers have no fucking common sense.I look at it like this.If a dump truck driver,or company is not responsible for rocks, stones, and other debris flying out from the dump body, and causing damage to a vehicle that is behind it,then why the fuck am I responsible for snow/ice on top of a 13'6" trailer?

I will not climb a ladder, get on top of a trailer, and clean that shit off. If I slip,I could get killed.

PA lawmakers have no sense? Whodathunkit.....

What you are saying is true. There have been some fatal accidents because of sheets of ice blowing from trucks as they travel the highways. Any debris flying from any vehicle can cause damage, and in Pennsylvania you can be fined for it.

Perhaps you need to start a company that would sell sweeping equipment to warehouses and truck stops.

We were behind a double the other night that had sheets peeling and flying all over the place. They really do need to provide a way for you guys to clean stuff off! Every truck stop/rest area/depot should have the proper equipment to do so...even where it's not the law. It's just common sense. It would cost less to do that than to pay the lawsuits people will file for damages.

Here in CT, they'll fine car drivers for not cleaning things off too. And still, there are tons of people who won't bother. I nearly got rear-ended the other day by some dipshit who had all the snow on his roof slide down in front of his windshield when he hit the brakes. I can't even count how many times I've had that happen.

They really need to supply the equipment for cleaning at truck stops. I guess that would make too much sense.

Or they will say they don't have the money to add it.

The place I had to get a pre-loaded trailer yesterday had some sone on the roof.Guess what? No nothing for cleaning the snow off.

If some stuff flies out of the back of a PENNDOT dump truck, will they get fined? Ever see a sign on the back of a dump truck saying they are not responsible for objects flying out?

I guess they have some good lawyers.

It would come under the category of unsecured load. Our hometown is now starting to give citations to automobile drivers who let snow blow off.

Honestly I'm not too surprised to hear this, given how much bureaucracy truckers have to go through to begin with.

Given how dangerous it is I think it'd work best as a service provided at truck stops. Not trying to cast aspersions on your profession Zod, but I've met alotta truckers who seemed a little too large and ungainly to be negotiating the top of an icy rig.

Hell...........I am not large and ungainly. No way I am negotiating an ice covered trailer. That former idiot governor of PA made that law.I guess our current idiot in charge will do nothing to change it.

It is easy to get snow off of an auto. But typical govt BS. They could care less about us truckers.

Again,if they want us to remove snow off the top,we need the tools to do it.If we are not provided with the means to remove the snow, then why ticket us?
