The Strange Things Thread

I was horrible at gymnastics. I was so bad they put me in with disabled people.
My high school was too small to have a special gym class for disabled people, but that's where I would have wound up for gymnastics if there had been one.

Maybe that's where my fear of heights started but I never got that far off the ground either to be afraid lol.
I think that wss part of it. I was afraid to get high cause i wss adraid i would lose grip and fall. It was hard concrete under the ropes. No matting.

It seemed strange to me in high school that the only sport where I seemed to have any talent was bowling, and we had no bowling team at the school.

I loved bowling but we never had that in school!

We never had it in school either, but I had a group of three friends who all liked bowling and we would go together by bicycle to the local bowling alley.

Sounds easier then most of the other sports lol.
It was easier for me for two reasons, one physical and one psychological.
The physical reason: In bowling, you don't need quick reflexes (which I don't have). The pins stand still and wait for you.
The psychological reason: In bowling, you're not facing an opponent. While you are trying to get a higher score than another person or other people, those people are not hindering you when you bowl.

Very true 👍

It's strange for me to be on a break from running for the first time in 12 years. I really messed myself up with that fall I had last week. I'm so mad at myself, the world and those doctors on Saturday...this one doctor was talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Never trust one doctor's opinion.
I know people who kept up with aerobic exercise with a broken ankle (even worse than sprained) by using a stationary hand bicycle at the gym.

Sound advice. I been to so many doctors over the last 5 years. Luckily my science background aides me in separating good advice from bad advice.

Well fortunately guys I made a friend in the last year who is right across the hall from me at work and opened his own physical therapy place and he told me to take about 3 weeks off now from running but I can come use his bike if I want to whenever. Also, gave me some treatment on my ankle and taped it up for a few days. Gave me advice and is checking on how I'm doing. The weekend my ankle was so swollen...that's why I went to the doctor. But the results didn't come back that bad (a minor sprained ankle possible avulsion) but no major sprain or break or anything.

It sounds like you're getting good advice from that friend who is a physical therapist. 😀

Sounds like really great advice from that guy.,

It's strange how the smallest parts of us (like an ankle, a toe, a finger) you don't think much of until you hurt it...you're always worried about the bigger parts like your back and your legs lol. Anyway, hope you guys are doing good this weekend!!!

Yes, it's a natural human tendency to ignore minor body parts unless or until they hurt.

It's common to ignore most things till they hurt. You can lose up to 90 percent of kidney function and not notice a thing. Very scary.

I didn't know that. It is scary. Glad I had a blood test at my last physical and kidney function was one of the things included in the test.

Exactly. Kidney doctor told me you are only as healthy as your tests tell you.

I guess that is why, every year, they include kidney function, liver function, thyroid function, and PSA (prostate) in the blood test, along with cholesterol and triglycerides.

Yea those tests are now easy to do and very routine,
