The Strange Things Thread

Yea for sure. The AC in the place did not even work right. Was like being in hell although I think hell had a better heath plan lol.
They don't need a health plan in Hell :firedevil because the residents never die. 😱

Exactly. We had ABC insurance. Really awful insurance. Even eternal damnation would be better lol
It sounds like ABC is even worse than the version of Blue Cross / Blue Shield that we had at Fordham in the 1980's.

One thing I've always found strange is Working From Home. It's like I can do it in small doses but not on a regular basis. I never took advantage of it much during the Covid Era. I've just started using it a handful of days for the summer when people are in and out more...mostly I use it when I'm sick (very rare) or in winter when it's snowing/icy out.

Chemists need to work in a lab. So we rarely ever get a work from home option. Covid was devasting to chemist jobs but I had other things going on then with my health.

In 2020, I was glad that I had retired before COVID. Teaching via Zoom (or some other video system) is a real pain in the ass, especially teaching mathematics where you need to spend many, many hours preparing images of equations and calculations.

Yea I can imagine that would be a real pain. :iagree:

My friend said that was so hard and then teaching in person wearing a mask constantly all day and trying to talk through it as you are in the front of the class and having the kids hear you was such a pain. And trying to get the kids keep a mask on. I won't get into the mask debate but I saw a lot of things that made me really question what we were doing...N95 I'm sure it helped some. The masks most of us were using (and the way we were using them) just seemed like mostly a waste of time to me. Just my opinion.

The dumb thing was the mask thing was a farce. Masks don't do crap to stop viruses. Yet there are even some docs that still want me to wear a mask even now. Masks only stop certain large particles not viruses or bacteria.

Remember the NBA players would be wearing masks sitting on the bench and then take off their mask, go on the court, jump and breathe all over each other. Uhh so it's ok now not to wear a mask on the court? There was an NBA player who had to wear a mask at home games to be able to play but the visitors didn't have to? We had a fire drill at work and everyone followed the arrows on the floor all the way around the building instead of going straight out (like you're supposed to in a fire). We had a meeting at work everyone had to stay six feet apart with masks on during it yet then we all sat in the same exact spot, took off our masks and ate/talked for the next half hour straight...so what was the point of wearing a mask before in the same spots? lol

Yea I remember dumb stuff like that. I remember having to wear the mask to order food in a restaurant then have to eat it outside with mask off with flies buzzing around. Really dumb. The 6 foot thing was made up as well they finally admitted. Viruses don't have a distance limit. Like you could stop smallpox by moving 6 ft away from someone lol.

I don't want to get started on masks. I could go on for an hour about the contradictions and stupidities of the mask requirements here during COVID.
