I'd have to agree, being in the military DOES add a great deal of 'color' to one's vocabulary. I swear ENTIRELY too much, and like Flatfoot says, you get to the point where they're not so much swear words anymore so much as they are adjectives. But some of my favorites, depending on what's causing me to spout the nasties...

if you drop something on your foot (like I did at work yesterday): JEEEEE-susSUFF-ering F*CK! I heard Billy Connolly use it once on stage, and it suits perfectly for the sort of pain that you get from dropping stuff on your foot. It's a long JEEEEEEEEEsus, then straight into SUFFering, with the f*ck added right on the end. JEEEEE-susSUFF-ering F*CK!

Of course, it makes no sense, but it's very satisfying.

I usually try to keep it pretty mild in public and at work. Sh*t roles off the tongue more than anything -- mostly cause it is less offensive to others than most.

There's a really cool book called Maledictum Malectum.... or... something like that, which explains the origins os swear words. the ones like "Motherfucker", "You are a son of a camel".... that kind of thing, the ones which impune the family come from Africa and the Arab world, where impuning ones family was the worst...

Ones that deal with the bodily filth (like "shithead", "piece of shit", "pissed off") were more European because they saw a lot of filth in their streets in the old days and were familiar with it, plus clenliness was next to Godliness, so to bring down a swear dealing with sex (fuck) filth (shit) or religion (damn) was to take down their religious standing a notch or two, and "curse" them.

I agree. I usually don't swear. It will slip out, I agree, but I try not to make it a concious habit to have every other word as f*** sh** or the like.

I have been around people who spew out swear words every other word and to me, it makes them look like childish morons who cannot think of anything intelligent to say, or do not have the education to do such.

That may be a trend among children who like to show how "cool" they are by how many swear words they know, but when adults do it, I have to shake my head and laugh to myself.

Lately mine seems to be "bloody hell" followed by "Fo***ng Gobshite." Working part time/full time(whe school is not in session) in an industrial setting, I have learned some nifty swearwords(mostly used to refer to the various idiot supervisors! LOL😛 ) , and am even starting to curse in different languages. Hooray for multilingualism!😎
