The TMF is nothing without its members

For a forum that has this as a opening paragraph on the splash page, and claimed to once be a flame-free forum; there is a lot of negativity in this thread and the chat interaction forums in general.

wasn't there a sticky post about the golden rule or something?

Not sure what's more ironic, that he trashed MJ's funeral thread, the fact that he's getting trashed by the people who he trashed, or the fact that this forum was supposed to contain constructive comments.
 
I'm not going to name any name...but there is one forum I was a member of that went by the logic of "The owner and admins control everything, it's their forum, they do what they want". This became a problem when they specifically began caring more so for their own little private club over the majority. No, this isn't something like here on TMF that can be considered subjective, this is pure fact.

Anyway, the result is many members being alienated and leaving because of a group of certain members who could skate around the rules however they wanted. Favoritism was so blatant that it was just disgusting. I haven't been there in a while because they stopped allowing new members in a way. But I've heard it's just gotten worse and worse.

The internet forum is a working relationship. Without the people that keep it running, the forum doesn't work. Without the members, the forum has no purpose. Both parts are important enough that each side should take the other side's feelings into account.

It is the friendliest online tickling community. As long as people are nice, others will be nice back. Do you honestly expect people not to respond negatively to something when they are being approached in a negative manner?

In all honesty? This thread and even the others have been fairly constructive over all. There's been a helluva lot worse flaming that has happened before.
 
The actual guy who runs this place wasn't behind this.

So if Jeff wasn't the guy doing this? Your concept of biting the hand that feeds HAS NO backing. He gets to wear the dictator pants.

Hey, also? Majority of folk? Didn't find the thing funny. Also? Why is it that those involved with the thing have danced around the issue and told people to just not come on the forum? Those people aren't Jeff, so guess what? They don't get to tell an ENTIRE forum community what to do.

The reason for that is simple:

Unlike in years past, the people who are speaking up have a level of articulation in the way that they speak that gives them a sort of authority.

Horse shit reasoning does not trump common sense, no matter how many myopians want to act like they are in the in crowd or not.

He's right. The forum DOES owe me something....SCREENSHOTS!!!! I was out of town the whole weekend and I missed the prank. I wanna see what 'shambles and meangry's supposed teeming majority is whining about this year.

Oh, BabyShambles - we meet again.

The message the OP quoted was mine. I posted it in one of the many Shemp crap threads in response to Adam saying his personal space was invaded when all the words on the ENTIRE forum that were any derivative of "foot" or "tickle" were changed to SHEMP, and if effected his (and everyone else's) posts, blogs, PMs, basically anything written on the forum. (Can you imagine what the stories section looked like? Oy!)

Anyway, my point is, people seem to think they come here and are owed something for their wonderful existence on the TMF, when in fact, they're not. This place is paid for, run, and maintained by people who are NOT you. They run the show. They make the decisions. You can like it or hate it, but that's the way it is. If you want to go somewhere where they'll hold your hand and kiss your forehead and say, "Sorry we ruined your day," then get to gettin' cause it ain't happenin' here.

We're a member-driven forum - if the members all got their panties in a bunch and left the TMF would die. Yes, you're right. But that would only be punishing the members themselves, not the people who run it. They don't get anything out of running the site. They don't make money. All they get is the same content that we get (which they could get elsewhere if all the members migrated to one of the other, and in my opinion, considerably less awesome TK sites), and the satisfaction of making available to all of us a totally awesome place to make friends and share MANY interests - not just the one that happens to bring us all here.

So, I stand by original statement that this site belongs to the people who run it. We're all allowed to post and message and blog here because they decided to let us come, and then made those features available. It's not their duty to do so, and it certainly isn't owed to us.

How horrible! How dare people mess with the forum and disrupt it for a couple hours. Do you have any idea how much wanking time was lost by various members??? This is terrible. Shempday should never happen again because certain people on the forum have no sense of humor and ended up missing a stroke in the vid clip forum.

For fuck's sake people, get over it. And yourselves.
 
And to cap it all off it doesn't look like 'Ticklish Celebrities' was changed to 'SHEMPish Celebrities'.

Dammit, I expect more attention to detail next year.
