The Video Game Thread

Meh, can't win em’ all. But you could be right, because I don't know how they could make it different to meet today's standards.

i dont know, i dont like remakes mostly.
im just a purist or something.
i still loved the RE remakes for gamecube

I've never heard of Spore. I will check it out.

I think some of the games for Gamecube are the best games out there. Zelda:Windwaker, RE4, Pikmin 2, Metroid Anything, Mario Anything. Its too bad the crappy games outweigh the kisck ass ones, but heck, for the price of a used GameCube, why wouldn't you pick one up? I believe I got a used GameCube at Game Crazy for about $70. Don't get me wrong. I love my Playstation, but Nintendo is always trying something new. Sometimes its a flop, but sometimes it works too. Not to mention all the classic Nintendo games.

I need Shenmue III ;( That scene on top of the Yellow Head Builidng was one of the greatest scenes in videogame history, if you ask me.

Definitely agree with you on that one. But it was already announced that there will be no more Shenmue series games. There is another Shenmue game coming out, called Shenmue online. Basically think Matrix Online, but in the Shenmue world. Don't really get to see Ryo or anything, which really sucks cause it was such a great game. I'm actually playing the new Onimusha right now, it's pretty good. Definitely not as hard as the other ones, but still worth checking out, specially for 40 bucks.

Well, no, actually NOTHING has been announced, that is what makes me mad! Sure, the story will be told a little bit further in Shenmue Online, but Suzuki didn't say anything about whether there will be a Shenmue III or not! If he said "no", I could cry some weeks and get over it, but whats going on now is maddening, really!

Never been into strategy games much, Hungarian. My scene is more pointless explosions, lots of guns, the odd sword, maybe some car chases, etc. 😛

Lol, yeah, this is america, what did I expect? 😛 Actually, I'm into both; shooting, cars, swords, fights, strategy, etc. Unless its a barbie or other non...um, "T" game, I'll play it....and some E ones too.....😉

Actually it has. You should read the Game Informer magazine sometime. In issue 153, the January 2006 magazine, it has Sam Fisher on it, because of Double Agent, on page 24 on the bottom left corner it says and I quote "Yu Suzukisays that there's no Shenmue 3. There you go. That's it. Now stop bugging us about it and go clean your cosplay outfit. It stinks."
Yeah, that definitely blows. I went out of my way and bought the Japanese version of Shenmue 2 for Dreamcast whenever it came out because I loved the first one so much. It was about 70 dollars off of Ebay after paying for the game, a boot disc to play it on my system and shipping. Such a terrible end to a great game series, but that is what seems to happen these days. -.-

Do we have any fans of the Medal of Honor Series? I've been with the Medal of Honor series since the release of the first one in 1999, and I have no intention of leaving it anytime soon, either though Rising Sun sucked ass. But Pacific Assault set it straight with the Pacific theater. I liked the games unique way of restoring health. Instead of finding first aid kits (and performing surgery on yourself) to restore health, there was a medic in your squad who would heal you. However, if he didn't get to you in time, or if a Jap got to you first, you die! Plus the medic can only heal you three times. So yeah this game is hard! European Assault was cool too, but Europe is really getting old. But it's Medal of Honor, so it still kicked ass. Most WW2 shooter fans I know like Call of Duty better, and yeah the game's cool and all, but Call of Duty is choking the European theater to death!! Stalingrad has especially been overdone!! There has been 3 or 4 Call of Duty games released, and it's all the same crap!! I'm even getting sick of the allied perspective; toss a little variety into the genre! I'd actually like to see a WW2 shooter in the German perspective. It's not like there'd be a focus on the Holocaust where all you do is kill Jews, that'd just be unethical, and retarded! Actually now that I think of it the most original World War II shooter was Return to Castle Wolfenstein. That game was just awesome!

I agree with you on that. The Call of Duty 2 was fun for the 360, considering it was one of the few games that actually game out for the 360 and were pushing the systems graphics. The new Medal of Honor looks awesome, it's called Airbourne and you can pretty much figure out what it's about. From the looks of the screenshots I've seen you actually get to do the jumps and what not, might be a new direction for the MOH series.

so last night i started playing castlevania : curse of darkness at about 6:30 when i got home.. and i was playing until 3:30 this morning.. straight through.. no breaks.. so needless to say.. i recommend this game

Lol well there you go, still gave you some pics from it. If I had a scanner I would scan the pics from the magazine, but I don't, lol. It'll be out for the 360 as well ya know. I'm not too sure on my feelings for the PS3 at the moment. I was a huge sony fan, but the PSP definitely let me down, and they don't really seem to know what they are going to do with the PS3, but who knows.... That's what they get for wasting all of their time hunting down people downloading their music for free, lol.

Spore: I imagine that once this community gets a hold of it, we're going to see a bunch of planets of creatures with big tickling hands, or big ticklish feet?

Xbox: The only 360 game that really holds me at this point is Geometry Wars, but then, my favorite game of all time is Total Carnage.

Sadly, I'm still waiting on another sequel to Startropics and/or EarthBound.

Hello, I hear my calling.

As my title suggest, I am a Fire Emblem nut. I've played all three released stateside and found translations for two others released in Japan just so I could play for the story. Currently playing Path of Radiance, which is so addictive it isn't even funny. Soren is clearly the man.

Fire Emblem 7, the first released here with Eliwood... I must say, that game consumed me. Doing a Pherae-only challenge is fun, but... well, challenging. I don't even want to think of Ostia-only.

Final Fantasy Tactics, favorite game of all time, no question. I've challenged and beaten the game lord knows how many times over the past six years or so. Great game.

Yeah, I'm waiting for that too, but here's some bad news: They origionally had the release date sometime in late March or early April, but they had to move it to NOVEMBER for some reason...🙁

Here's a reference; http://ps3.ign.com/articles/696/696062p1.html

Oh well; at least I've got a reason to write to be good this year...😛

Yeah. It's a pain in the ass that the PS3 has been pushed back. I read it was due to availability of the processors and components. There just weren't enough to hit Sony's ideal console quota for spring, so they've pushed it back and send out millions of th things at the same time.

It's totally gonna be worth the wait, though.

Well I'm not really concerned with buying a PS3 as soon as it's released. I like to give it a year or so because by then the price drops substantially. Did anyone see the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4? OMG those graphics are fuckin' sick!

Yeah, I don't like the idea of Snake being an old man though. That's kinda weird in my book. Cause he would be like in his sixties during the game. But then again look at Sam Fisher, lol. Anybody excited about Oblivion? Comes out next Tuesday for the 360.
