This story/thread brings up a very interesting issue - male genital mutilation and how society views it. There are countless commercials/movies/television shows in which men are continually hit in the genital region. This is found to be humorous by most of the audience, especially women. Yet, we never see any scenes where a female is say, knocked in between the legs with a steel pipe or kicked in between the legs repeatedly and laughed at while she holds her wounded genitalia and cries.

Imagine this situation: a group of men and women, all friends, are sitting together at a table.

One woman says: "My boyfriend cheated on me. Man, I'd love to cut off his balls!"

There are grunts of approval and cheers of "woo!" from their fellow females. They get a good chuckle out of it.

Then a man says: "Yeah, I know how you feel, my girlfriend cheated on me. I'd love to cut her clit off."

Do you think the man would receive the same reaction? In all fairness, he should. But he won't. In fact, he may be asked to leave the table in a not-so-nice way.

I remember a particular beer commercial where a man was hit between the legs by various objects in the fantasy of one of his ex-girlfriends. Yet, there were never any commercials that showed a female being hit in the same area.

Pain derived from the male genitalia is considered humorous while pain derived from the female genitalia is considered a terrible crime. Look at the issue in Africa where women's genitalia are being mutilated. Why aren't people finding it humorous? Do you think feminists would be over there advocating if it were men's genitalia being mutilated? I think not. I wonder why this is. I wonder why feminist's, who *claim* to be for equality, are not fund raising against the obviously sexist mentality of our society when it comes to male genital mutilation.

I'm assuming this is more of a light-hearted rant than anything since, well, men really don't have much to complain in this world about as far as double-standards go. I mean, jokes are one thing, but the real deal is another. Women literally get the raw end of the deal more often than not (or, rather, than men) in today's world--globally. I'm not saying guys don't get mistreated in various ways as well at times too. (Refer to the "CRAZY B*TCH" thread.) Neither should be tolerated, of course. But if someone had to prioritize their attentions, womens' concerns would likely come first more often--and probably rightly so (IMHO).

As far as this case goes, if this woman has to face a male judge and a (predominantly) male jury. Well, I *really* don't think she's going to get a slap on the wrist. Every guy there will be thinking how they'd feel it happened to them. 😡 Wouldn't you?

You are assuming that the woman was wronged. The man merely refused the woman's advances. If the roles were reversed and a woman refused the advances of a former sexual partner and he physically attacked her, would you have the same opinion? She was stupid to allow a man to control her emotions and now she's going to pay with her freedom.
