Tickling in Art

OMG - talk about 'job satisfaction'!!!
-That reminds me of a story I read once about a garden full of marble statues in various agonized-yet-aroused positions. They only appeared to be marble though, they were actally petrified humans who could feel everything that touched them. They had been frozen in the middle of whatever torturous erotic tickling act was being performed on them, never able to achieve release, always open to the ministrations of anyone who walked through the garden. Of course this was explained to the main character of the story, who was then encouraged to tease and tickle the statues as much as he wanted (while the author described to the readers exactly what the statue was feeing). . . .
Wish I could remember where I read that!

This is what came up when I searched "tickled sculpture" .... quite nice
... I like the song too ....

That picture of the David statue is pricelss. Cute and wicked at the same time. And as for the story about the marble statues, I wouldn't mind spending a weekend being tickled and teased like that!

Detail of Donatello's David

Donatello%252C_David_%2528bronze%2529_detail_of_legs.JPG

Bronze sculpture 1440's. Bargello Museum, Florence
The feathers are from Goliath's winged helmet on which David is resting his foot.

Gisgone, you are a goddess!!!
Only you could find this this angle of this sculpture!!
--Please tell me you took it yourself -- On a fabulous Tickle Tour of European museums!

Back at ya, G -

Considering where his left hand is, you have to wonder what his right one is doing . . ;-)

I always wondered how Hades 'persuaded' Persphone to agree to his terms!!

Odysseus Queen - this wasn't me, this was Tendersilky! So maybe it was Silky that took the tickle tour of Europe!

Tendersilky - Funny I thought about Donatello's David and that feather a few days ago! Great minds! Great minds! :Kiss1:

Hades would have had no problems if he went about it in that fashion!

Odd bit of trivia: Leonardo was reputed to be the model for this one David.

Kalamos - thanks for dropping in on our thread. From your location I wonder , have you had the pleasure of viewing either of the Davids in the "flesh" ..... [giggles]

I think someone is going to have to find this story! Or write it over!!!

Not yet.
Maybe someday.

...

I'm a fan of Canova's though, and I had the lucky chance to see some of his feminine sculpt when I used to wander Europe, as a younger hauberk.

Please, allow me to contribute to this fine thread in more than just words.
This is one of my favourite works of his.

OMG - once again, I owe my dear friend Tendersilky an apology! I swear, some days I am only half here. Sincere apologies if anyone was offended.

Gisgone - you are still a goddess!!!

Tendersilky - you are ALWAYS a goddess!!!

Kalamos - I don't know you, but you can be a goddess if you want to! 🙂

I am an idiot. But I hope my charm will make up for it, and everyone will forgive me. xo
Will try to pay better attention in the future!!! xo

PS - if any talented writers out there would like to take on the statue-story challenge, I would not object!!!! I Might even be persuaded to do some 'illustrations', in return . . . . .??!!!?

How do you think the art pundits of the future will analyze the art on the TMF??[/QUOTE]

Maybe she just needs to lighten up? Perhaps have a good . . . Laugh!!?!?!?!?
:tickle:

[giggles] But where has G gone?? Gone to town?? Gone to the dogs?? Gone crazy now???

I like to think she's gone shopping, actually. Perhaps for some sexy new shoes!?

Sculptures

No worries, OdysseusQueen! I'm pleased you were delighted by it, & Gisgone was about to post it anyway. :DanceBun2:

Beautiful Canova, Kalamos - I like marble best for sculptures of human forms because it looks so delicate & pliable; it's hard not to touch. :bubble:
Interesting about Leonardo posing for Donatello's bronze David - love the kind of trivia that gives us a little more insight into the personal history of those amazing artists.

And speaking of sculptures that tempt you to touch:

I definitely want to run my fingers along those toes!!! :aww:

Tendersilky - I might have posted the Donatello, but I did not have it from that angle! :goodjob:

Have we posted this one before - I couldn't find it in the earlier replies.
Ancient Greek Marble Sculpture current at the Louvre - Pan Tickling Foot of Man.

A little modern tickle sculpture anyone??

This is actually for sale at the Seattle Arts Galleries .... when I redecorate maybe...... :laughhard:

This thread cannot die!!

I'm really glad folks got hooked by the statue idea. Still wish I could find that story - although it might be more fun to make up back-stories for the works of art that attract us -- like these, for example!

OK, I know the first one is pretty straight-forward (it's an illustration from a story called The Weekend Visit, by the same fellow who wrote The Way of a Man . . .)
But the in the second, I like to think his hand is going straight for her armpit
In the third, I think he's tickling her with a paintbrush- we just can't see it for the fold.
And in the fourth , . . well, to continue our "fun with statues" line. :Kiss1:

That looks like Paolo Serpieri's handiwork.

🙂

...

I LOVE Viegeland!!! The park in Oslo blew me away!
If you find that picture you must post it!

Of course I found it...
I even edited some key features out, so I could feel safer posting it here.

...

Am I a nice guy or what?

😀

This is an illustration from a 5th Century AD edition of the Kama Sutra ....

Sorry I am in a very cheeky mood this afternoon!!! :Kiss1:

A couple more for the thread

The first is a lesser-known version of The Nightmare. It was one of the first works of art that sparked my erotic imagination. (What DID that imp just do to that poor girl?!)

And the second is a vintage print I just found on the net. I don't know that the artist intended to do a tickling scene, but it sure looks like one to me!

Enjoy, gang!!

It looks like that pirate is doing some tummy tickling to me too! Yum!
