I haven't flown with bathroom supplies since 2005. Since then, some clever, but selfish bastard tried to smuggle explosive gel on a plane by passing it off as water and security measures have changed once again, and I have to update my travel habits once again.

So, for those of us travelling to NEST by plane and carrying certain "regular" electronic items that have a secondary function their designers didn't intend, what type of interference can we expect from security and what can we do to get around them?

P.S. What about little travel bottles of shampoo, moutwash, etc. that you can get at Wal-Mart for .50/pop?

lol This is very interesting. Last week I was wondering about how would I get my "play toys" and "tickle session essentials" on an airplane?? I'll check back, to see what answers you guys find out. TX

Feathers are now banned on all inbound and outbound international flights. It seems that an Al-Queda Chicken tried to hijack a plane last week and fly it into a Purdue plant. He was apprehended and no one was hurt, however, he did ruin the fun for all of us.

Be safe: Travel nude.

:blaugh: :devil2:

Well, last year I had everything in my luggage & had it checked in. I did NOT carry anything on board with me that would be considered 'dangerous', like my toothbrush (that I use for my teeth, hahaha).
I was NOT stopped or anything, so I will do it again & keep my fingers crossed.

Don't pack the following

GUNS
BOMBS
ANIMALS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES :bat:
DRUGS
YO YO'S (THE TALIBAN USES THEM AS WEAPONS)
SMALL CHILDREN OR DWARFS
SAMERI OR NINJA WEAPONS
ILLEGAL ALIENS
SPACE ALIENS

all kidding aside....

It will tell you all you need to know. If you prefer to avoid the hassle, there's a little plaza within reasonable distance (10 min. walk/2 min drive) of the hotel that has a dollar store among other things. So, anything you don't bring can be easily grabbed when you get in. AFA bondage gear....check it.

I'm looking forward to the responses Amnesiac can really use. :wow:

Besides, I'll be traveling later this year and would like some advice myself.

I knew the voice of reason would show up eventually! Thanks for the link. :upsidedow

the dagger smuggler weighing in...😉

I have one fantastic East Coast friend that recently wisely mailed his stuff to me ahead of time, just to be safe. :bouncybou

And, call me crazy but in my experience, almost anything that might cause a "problem" for flyers, you can usually get your hands on by sweetly asking a local pal to "borrow" or even pick up for you so it's ready when you get here. Thank you, Larry Flynt. 😉

XOXO

That must have been some other goofy looking guy. 😉

Brought my toys with me when I was in LA earlier this month. Checked 'em in. No problems whatsoever. Same as every other trip in the decade.

It IS fun when they do the fancy secondary search and ask what they're for. Ya don't get that for domestic flights, though. Nothin' wrong with bringin' such, s'long as they aren't weapons and are checked in, far as I've experienced.

Ann already provided the cool list, so you're good to go!

I'm not checking a DAMN thing! I pack light (1 duffel bag, 1 backpack) and that's it. I am NOT taking the risk of my fucking bags getting lost!

Then you take the risk of having them pull all of your stuff out to check by hand in fromt of everyone else...

I suggest you get to the airport really early as you will surely experience delays while they examine your stuff...and be prepared to answer questions...

Gone are the days when you take everything for a trip on board with you..

The checkpoint screening, which is done at every US airport by the Transportation Security Administration, is simply a dog-and-pony show designed to give the illusion of security. The "shoe carnival" and "freedom baggie" charade does nothing to thwart a resourceful and determined terrorist from smuggling explosives onto an airplane. But the TSA does a marvelous job of needlessly harrassing passengers. Many items that are not listed as "prohibited" on the official TSA website are confiscated at the checkpoint. Transportation Security Officers often make up their own rules as to what's allowed in one's carry-on luggage. All I can say is that the TSA is consistantly inconsistant. And arguing with a TSO will often earn you a secondary screening. My advise is not to pack anything out of the ordinary in your carry-on baggage. The only good thing about "security theater" is that you'll probably get to see lots of bare feet!
