Man oh man
It sucks being a truck driver now Freight is just about dead On this past Monday,I delivered a load of rail car parts in Roanoke,VA Did not get a new load to pickup that day Tuesday morning,I picked up a new load going from Martinsville,VA to Wurtsboro,NY
The Va to NY load was a drop and hook load That means I unhook from the loaded trailer I bought to the receiver, and hook up to an empty trailer Well, they did not have an empty trailer for me,or the other company driver that bought in a load
We found some all night diner that has truck parking So we stayed there He took off later, and was told to get an empty trailer some other place about 200 miles away I stayed overnight
This morning,I got after my dispatcher to see where I could get an empty trailer, and hopefully a new load I wanted to get out of that area today A heavy snow storm was supposed to be coming in tomorrow 😱
While driving Tuesday late afternoon, and yesterday morning,I had to deal with some bad roads due to freezing rain,or near freezing rain To add insult to injury, the place I delivered to wasn't going to unload my trialer,or any other company trailer until Friday sometime
Then why the bloody hell did the say they wanted my load delivered by Wednesday by 4 PM? WTF?

I had planned to be home by the 24th of this month for a few days off I live about 200 miles from where I delivered My dispatcher calls my cell phone about noon, asking me if it would bother me being off for nine or ten days
What could I say but no She told me a lot of other drivers were in the same situation I was in Just not much in the way of loads around 🙁 I lose five days of work Maybe $500 or so in lost wages
This really blows
